Maverick's Sports Grill — Restaurant in Mankato

My wife and I ate here for the first time yesterday. I had steak, steamed veggies, and a house salad. Steak was cooked perfect and came out sliced (which I liked). Veggies were well seasoned. Salad was not iceberg lettuce, which was greatly appreciated. My wife had the organic hamburger with cheese & fries. Both were delicious. The menu had a lot of traditional bar food items, but there is a lot of "real food" that you wouldn't find at other bars downtown. Our server Will was very attentive. Atmosphere was great. Looks like it will be a great place for before a hockey game or event downtown. It seems very family friendly for earlier hours (note: penalty box booths for several tables!), but very fun for those that are out for drinks and appetizers later on in the evening. Also looks like a nice place to watch a game (they have some of their TVs arranged like a scoreboard). Looking forward...

We were looking forward to coming back after a great experience the first time we came to the establishment. Today, however, we ordered a burger among other things and we were brought the incorrect burger. Our server came to our table and explained he brought the wrong burger. We had already cut and taken a bite of it and said it’s okay we will just take what we were brought rather than waiting for a replacement. When we got the bill we were still charged for the burger we ordered even though we didn’t receive it. When we asked our waiter, Griffin, why we were charged for it, his comment was “well it was cheaper than what you ate.” When we asked to talk to the manager, Sawyer, her comment was “well you ate the burger didn’t you?” They did not comp the burger and argued they didn’t need too. Maverick's Sports Grill is wonderful, and I highly recommend it. I was having a challenging time of finding any restaurant in town to go to after my son's college graduation that allowed me to make a larger party reservation but Maverick's was so accommodating. I was able to easily reserve online through Google and the reservation was confirmed by the restaurant as well. When we arrived, the table was all ready with my name on it, a perfect after-graduation set up. The service was spot-on and the food was amazing. Everyone in our party loved the food, cocktails, and I especially loved the guacamole. They even had several screens with the Timberwolves on, so we appreciated that. I am happy my other sons will be attending Mankato State too so I can be a repeat customer. ...
