So based on the recommendations of the PA Hot Wing Group on Facebook for our little Lancaster, PA trip....We hit up Lucky Dog Cafe.
We enjoyed our night out, so it was a great recommendation. The bartenders were awesome, funny and attentive. The food was really good. We ordered 1/2 Dozen Wings ($7.95) Hot w/blue cheese and celery, a cup of chicken corn soup, Patty Melt and a Chicken Caesar Salad.
This FB group is here for the wings and I will say they were good. Not "drive out of the way good", but you walk into the bar and order these and they are sufficient. The have the basic sauce flavors (mild, medium, hot suicide and I think a spicy bbq). I actually liked the blue cheese the most. Not sure what brand, but I though it was exceptional. The wings were rather large and crispy. However, I should've asked for the well done because they could've used a little more love in the fryer. Also, I would've preferred a little bit more sauce. I ordered hot (which I never usually do) and it had just a teeny little kick.... I'd give them a 6/10.
The Chicken Corn soup was different. We thought it would be more of a chicken corn chowder soup, but it was more like a chicken soup with corn. Very sweet and we both thought it was a nice surprise.
I got the patty melt with extra swiss and it was really good. Very juicy, and just really happy with it.
Her chicken caesar salad was ok. Why she didn't love it is because they grill the chicken fresh and then put the hot chicken on the cold salad. Me? I don't care, like it either way. Her, she prefers it cold....
It was a fun night at a spot we would've...
Read moreI posted a review about a year ago that was a 5. I am now retracting it. I have been going here since it was Manor Ridge...different owners over the years of course. I have always loved this place. Sure. Every now and then there may have been a slight wrinkle but nothing so bad to keep me from going back...until now. I am 65 years old and this was a place to meet friends, have a good meal, good beer, watch a game...great service...until now. I can not believe what happened to me and my husband tonight. By the way. he has been going here since Manor Ridge as well. I totally understand being busy, I totally understand that maybe you should not have opened the outside dining until you were staffed correctly...ok...bad call. But I DO NOT understand waiting for more than an hour for our meal AND watching several parties who came in quite awhile after us and being served. I finally figured out that our waitress.who was very good at ignoring us for an hour, never put our order in to the kitchen. Along with that, there were 2 other parties not being helped...1 was waiting for a very long time for their check and 1 was waiting for their check and a box for their leftovers. We all had the same waitress. When I asked her to please check to see how long it would be and she disappeared again, after 20 minutes and another party getting served before us...we left and will never return. I never had such horrible service and she never apologized or anything. I will never be back again...it just is...

Oh, where do I even start with this culinary catastrophe? Let's just say, if you're looking for a dining experience that combines the charm of a dingy alleyway with the efficiency of a sloth on a Sunday stroll, then Lucky Dog is your jackpot!
First off, let's talk about the Skills machine. Apparently, it's so skilled that it managed to swipe $50 from our wallets faster than you can say "rip-off." Bravo, Lucky Dog, you've mastered the art of fleecing your customers with malfunctioning machinery.
But wait, there's more! When we brought this glaring issue to the attention of our waitress, she couldn't have cared less. Instead of offering an apology or attempting to rectify the situation, she casually informed us that the owner was "taking a nap." Ah yes, because nothing says top-notch customer service like letting the boss catch up on some beauty sleep while chaos reigns supreme in the bar.
And as for the promise of a follow-up call to address our grievances? Well, let's just say we're still waiting by the phone, eagerly anticipating the sound of crickets chirping in the void of customer care.
In conclusion, if you're in the mood for a culinary rollercoaster ride that'll leave you feeling simultaneously robbed and ignored, look no further than Lucky Dog. Just make sure to bring your own luck, because you certainly won't...
