We drive 600 miles to stay here as we have the last 7 years. The past 3, never a spot for us. The mantenoians move in at the beginning and pay for the whole summer, only spending 2-3 days a week there. We are always promised a spot somewhere. The last 3 years on the grass, in puddles of water and this past year we were told to wait until the end of July. We had to stay on the street at my mother in laws which is illegal in manteno. We stayed for 3 days and headed back 600 miles back. This place should be called manteno sportsman's club for white trash. There are a bunch of drunks there, one night backing into our truck, causing alot of time and damage. Don't go there if u want a nice place to camp. Of course u probably won't be able to...
Read moreLake water is wet, boat ramp is a pain, boating on a weekend is overcrowded for the size of the lake. Houses have been built over the years along the west side and allowed to put up sea walls, the flat sea walls, now in place of rocky shoreline caused loss of lake space. Sea walls cause waves to bounce back out into the lake, making it almost unusable for boating. Good place to go swimming in clear blue water, just very rough water for a tiny lake. No available boat docks now that boats are allowed to tie up for the summer at any dock. Poor management of resources will be the downfall for the poor lake. The five stars rating is for the lake water itself. Everything...

Burgers cooked on charcoal, brought to your outdoor table by cute, but very serious little kids, and a local blues, rock or country band playing as you sit watching the sun set over a pretty lake. Burger nights are from May to September. Be prepared for cigarette smoke, grill smoke and a struggle for a table that isn't reserved by someone's invisible friends. You may not be able to see the band because of the line dancers who are entertaining on an entirely different level. I'm not qualified to review the bar, beach or campground, but they...
