A little background info: We live in Florida, so we have VERY limited options for good pizza around here (literally 2 pizza spots)- I actually grew up hating pizza because chain pizza is just gross. So, I just never ate pizza. Until I had a proper pizza in NY almost 10 years ago. Fast forward to March 2023, we were visiting my mother in law in NJ, and we all decided to go out for pizza for dinner. They had picked another spot, but it was booked out. We came here instead, and Lord have mercy. I am so glad we did. The owner was so kind and made time to talk with us and make us feel welcome. My daughter doesn't like pizza much, so she got the chicken tenders and fries. The rest of us got a cheese pizza, a pepperoni pizza, and an order of garlic knots. The knots were good, I just wished they had a little more garlic/oil in the basket. Marinara for dipping was delicious. I tried my daughter's dinner as I cut it for her. Chicken was SO good, and the fries were fried and seasoned to perfection. As for the pizza. The pepperoni was absolutely delicious. Blows all the pizza spots back home out of the water. But the cheese pizza was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. I LOVE cheese, and typically, if I'm ordering, I'll order extra cheese, well done. This cheese pizza was just exquisite for such a simple pizza. Before we left, we got a tiramisu to go, which we were told the owners wife makes from scratch. The tiramisu was amazing! So, so much better than what we got from Randazzo's (which i was told is the "best in NJ") I wish we lived closer so we could eat here often, but at least we know where to go whenever we are visiting NJ! Thank you for such a...
Read moreWe found Manville Pizza & Restaurant 1969 on Google Maps while we were randomly looking around the city for places to stop.
We got there shortly after 5:00 and even though we had eaten at two other places within the last 30 minutes, We asked for a slice of buffalo pizza and some garlic knots.
They didn't have any buffalo pizza ready, but they were nice enough to ask for us another slice and added the buffalo sauce to it. They actually had tables to sit at so we were in luck.
We also got a bottle of their store brand soda as we figure that's better profit margin for them than anything else in the drinks and as a extra bonus it was black cherry, my favorite!
So it was great as coming from a bottle It's always perfectly carbonated and the slice of pizza was absolutely delicious We will definitely come back here and make it a main stop so we can get a full pie next time.
We were not really fond of the garlic knots. It's not that they were bad tasting but they tasted more thick and doughy than we like our garlic knots.
The service here was excellent and friendly We can clearly see why they're going into their 52nd year if business. We already knew from the reviews it was going to be a good location to stop at and when we got in line we noticed somebody had a shirt advertising this exact location. That is always a very good sign!
One thing to add about the Buffalo Pizza that we got. I think that's the first time I could ever actually drink the sauce off a pizza, as it was that good!

Read moreManville pizza is located along the Main Street in Manville with some street parking and a lot around back. There are two entrances for the customer's convenience. The restaurant itself was clean and there were plenty of decorations across the walls to give the restaurant a pleasant, neighborhood feeling. The staff was helpful and there was a tremendous selection of specialty slices behind the class at the counter.
I decided to go with my usual plain slice and one of my preferred specialty slices, the chicken-bacon-ranch. The plain slice was pretty average with a crispy base and crust, and a good cheese-to-sauce ratio. Side story: I may be misremembering, but I believe the bowling alley that once existed behind where the pizzeria is now used to source their slices from this establishment and I always remembered that pizza being the greatest, most delicious in the area. Unfortunately, this is not the plain slice that I had remembered so fondly. Perhaps I need to order a fresh pie and cut all of the slices in half to experience the joy I felt as a kid at a bowling alley birthday party. /end story/ The chicken bacon ranch slice wasn't bad. The bacon was crispy and the ranch dressing was conservatively applied, which led to a good balance of flavors. I would have liked the chicken to be more flavorful, but overall, not...
