I have been to this location many times over the years. Today will mark being my last. I order the same bagel and lox spread every time. I was given just the bagel. I ask “hey what about the chips and pickles?” The gentleman in charge said “it’s only included when it’s open faced” then shared “ it’s also a $1 more” Chuckling at his response he proceeded to tell me don’t worry about it and handed me the additional items. 1. The bagel I enjoy doesn’t come open face. Nor was I presented with an option to pay the additional dollar. 2. I have visited this establishment over the past 3 years and NEVER had my food giving this way. 3. The reasons he shared didn’t make sense and I strongly felt racially profile at this point. (Black female with a hoodie and sweatpants) I wouldn’t expect this type of service from a Maplewood NJ small business establishment.

So annoyed!! I ordered a bagel with olive cream cheese UNtoasted, which I stressed because the recipient only likes it that way. Bagel wrapped in foil was HOT to the touch-I told them I asked it not be toasted. Employee AND manager said it wasn’t toasted (I knew it wasn’t freshly baked since they were closing in 10 mins.). They said it’s hot because it’s fresh baked-well they lied-it was BLACK inside, so not only toasted, but burnt. Why not just make another one???

Dropped by for a quick bite. I was starving after a very long morning. Plenty of space to sit down and the space was clean. The prices are fair and comparable to other bagel places. The food itself was good and the people making the food were friendly and kind. The same cannot be said about the cashier. Very rude and literally ruined my appetite to the point that I didn’t even want to eat anymore and I ended up taking my food to go.

The lady who has been there for “23 years” is RUDE. All good things come to an end and I think after 23 good years this ladys time working at bagel chateau should come to an end too. After proceeding to mess up my order this lady had the nerve to call me wrong when I clearly stated for toast AND EGGS ON THE SIDE. I was so annoyed when I got back to my business and noticed the mistake that I simply dropped my things and hurried back over to get my ordered rectified. This is when I called them to let them know of the mistake where then miss 23 years experience proceeded to tell me that I made a mistake in how I ordered instead of apologizing for making a mistake she made she really tried to blame me. There is no other way to say and order what I wanted in the English language other than saying toast and 2 scrambled eggs on the side. SIMPLE. She also tried to tell me that she put the eggs in the toast as a sandwich that I had already picked up because she misunderstood or as she would say “you ordered it wrong” which is false because there was not even eggs in the toast so it was a complete botched order that she tried to blame on me; not to mention she really tried to make me turn around like I’m some yo-yo to go get the botched order because she didn’t believe me or think she was wrong. Lady do you really think I have the time to waste going back and forth like this if you didn’t mess up the order? If the person whose order that was for wasn’t so hungry I wouldn’t have even come back because it’s a waste of my time during a busy work day. Safe to say I won’t go back until they get rid of that very rude old lady who apparently thinks her experience makes her too perfect from...

For one, expect to pay $7+ dollars for a basic breakfast sandwich like a B.E.C on a plain bagel. Get any different bagel or add-ons and it’s $10 for a baby’s sandwich with zero flavor. Secondly, the biggest problem with these people, you look up at the menu price above the counter and they hand you a ticket with a price that’s 3+ dollars added onto it. Then you get to the register and they add tax. Genuinely don’t know where they get the ticket price numbers from, they add a dollar per ketchup squirt and bagel toasting time. Yesterday I asked the asian guy for 2 eggs. The price went from $6 to $4 after I told him the menu price (which was $3.50 but he added .50¢ I guess for the pen ink fee). He hands me my order, starts an arguement with me and tells me next time don’t just order 2 eggs. Babe are you good? This is a breakfast spot right? So I walked out with a plate of 2 sunny side up eggs, no toast, just eggs for almost $5. Guys just go to your bodega where you get a foot long breakfast sub...
