Take that five coz i thoroughly enjoyed my meal! Visited Tandoori chef on a tuesday evening and we were seated right away. Menu was not too overwhelming which was good and it was easy to pick from. We started with the Samosa Chaat which was a good app. It actually made me look forward to the entrees. My husband who was with me got the Tandoori Chicken - it was cooked well and had good flavor. However I enjoyed my order of chicken Hyderabadi so much more! The curry sauce was sooo good and flavorful. Im sure there is a number of spices mixed in it but all blended harmoniously with each other to bring about such exquisite taste! It was spicy though but it didnt stop me from eating and savoring it. The portion was generous as well that we had some left to bring home and enjoy the next day. That naan was delicious as well. And ooooh how we loved dipping it on the Hyberdabi sauce! It was like roti canai lol seriously you guys have to try this place and get the Hyderabadi! Im happy i gave it a go!

I wanted to check out this place since it had great reviews on Google. The restaurant is pretty small, tucked away among a row of shops, would have been hard to miss had it not been the amazing smell of Indian food emanating from it. Me and my friend went on a rainy day to grab snacks and have chai but the waiter seemed miffed that we only ordered so much. I ignored it regardless. Once we ordered the sampler platter, there was only one samosa which was a let down considering every other type had at least 2. The main reason for the low review was the fact that while we were still dining, the waiter came by 2-3 times just to take away the food even though our plates were half-eaten and I had to tell him I am still eating that’s when he stopped. As soon as I was done, he came by quickly to collect without even calling for the check as if to rush us out of the door. This was extremely rude considering there was no rush of customers at the time and even then, it’s wrong.

Happened to visit this restaurant when I was at NJ last weekend. I’ve ordered JEERA(Cumin) rice and paneer makhani. I’ve received the order after 25 minutes. Upon going back to my hotel I opened and found that there are two rice boxes and an order of paneer makhani. Paneer makhani tasted decent but jeera rice would’ve been better if there is JEERA in it. My order is basically missing jeera in jeera rice after waiting for 25 minutes. It could’ve been professional if they had let me know earlier that they won’t be able to serve me what I need. Another thing I noticed is about the prices. Price on menu for Paneer makhani was 16.95(check their online menu) but I was billed 17.95 before taxes. Upon asking the person over there told me that the menu was outdated. I won’t mind paying that price if the menu reflected correct prices. Unprofessional !!! Can improve and do better in many aspects.

If you’re looking for an amazing Indian restaurant, look no further! At Tandoori Chef in Maplewood downtown you’ve got it all: delicious food, generous portions, great service and an intimate atmosphere. It offers healthy vegan gluten free as well as vegetarian options, and is BYOB! From the vegetarian appetizers and naans to the main entrees, we enjoyed all the different flavors, textures and fresh ingredients: Vegetable sampler platter with Samosa, Paneer Pakora and Vegetable Pakora Kale Papdi Chaat (kale crisps with potatoes, chickpeas, and yogurt) Shrimp tandoori Chicken tikka masala Shrimp biryani Garlic naan and naan with coconut, nuts and raisins and poppadums and chutneys I particularly loved the shrimp cooked in two different ways: tandoori and biryani style. So flavorful! Thank you for inviting us! Thanks also to @njhipsturbia for connecting us!

If you're on the prowl for the scrumptious Indian flavors, in Maplewood New Jersey..and willing to take the heat and roll with the punches, it could be a food destination to remember. It’s my third time eating here and it’s been an absolute delight ! First thing first , absolutely delicious food and staff is very welcoming and friendly! If you are in doubt be free to ask them questions or suggestions and they will be happy to help you with suggestions. The kale papdi chaat is at its excellence and it’s a must eat for me every visit . It’s my most favorite Indian restaurant in Jersey and I drive up here passing many other Indian restaurants and it’s been worth every time! Please keep up the flavors and good vibes !! Special mention to the Chef behind the tasty food ! Cheers !!
