Barn Bird Kitchen — Restaurant in Maplewood

While visiting a friend, she brought me for lunch to one of her favorite places. We came to Barn Bird Kitchen on a Saturday afternoon.

The space itself is smaller with a limited number of indoor tables and outdoor tables, but we had no problem getting a seat. The service was extremely fast and friendly.

Barn Bird is known for their chicken, obviously. But I appreciated all of the different menu options as to how to enjoy it: sandwiches, salads, or straight up.

So I followed my friend lead and ordered the fries loaded with chopped up chicken. I got my chicken medium-spicy, which was the perfect level of kick and I left the coleslaw on mine. My friend ordered the exact same thing but removed the coleslaw from hers.

The fries were crispy and held up well to the sauce and coleslaw. There was tons of juicy chopped chicken. They definitely did not skimp on the chicken portion. This dish screamed comfort food, and was exactly what I needed that day while visiting my friend.

Bird Barn Kitchen in Maplewood, NJ is hands down one of the most charming and delicious spots I’ve had the pleasure of dining at. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, cozy atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The rustic yet modern decor perfectly complements the comforting energy of the place.

The food? Absolutely phenomenal. I had the pleasure of having their chicken and sweet potato waffles and it was absolute perfection.

But what really sets Bird Barn Kitchen apart is the service. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they care about the experience just as much as the food. It’s rare to find a place where the vibe, the service, and the food all come together so seamlessly.

I must confess…

I waited a bit before trying Barn Bird Kitchen. Mainly because I didn’t want to be disappointed. You see, in my home we take food seriously. We treat every meal like it would be our last ( don’t ask me why). So food must be chosen with utter care.
