Loved this restaurant! One of my new favorites in NJ. We will definitely be back. I think very reasonably priced for French fare and the ambiance. We visited for the first time around the holiday season and loved the vibes. I made a reservation for the dining room (recommended instead of the front room for a more elegant vibe). We were one of the first seatings so we got to see the beautiful restaurant and decor without the hustle and bustle. Great menu choices here. Hard to find a French restaurant with these classics on a menu in NJ. Only wish they had a good foie gras on the menu. I think there was an option but it was seared. To start we had a burrata from the specials menu and the escargot. Both were so delicious and the burrata was fresh. They also served us bread and butter which we also used to dip in the leftover escargot sauce! Although I will say the bread isn’t the best bread and maybe lacking in freshness. For mains, I had the filet mignon, ordered medium rare. It came out closer to medium and it was perfectly melting in your mouth. I didn’t love the crust on top but my parents tried it and liked the contrasting texture. My mom had the chicken and my dad had the duck. I tried a little bit of everything and I think the duck was my favorite. I also loved the pomme puree side that came with the steak. So good. The portion sizes were also really great, we even had leftover chicken. For dessert we had to go for a creme brûlée and also ordered the apple tart. The creme brûlée was delicious. The apple tart wasn’t my favorite but we finished everything. I also ordered tea and it came in a pot, so we asked for an extra teacup to share. Our service was very attentive and very pleasant. No complaint. We parked on the street, not sure if they had a lot, but we had no issues.

This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful brunch at Lorena’s, where the atmosphere was elevated by the smooth sounds of a live jazz band. As I entered, the warm tones from the musicians wrapped around me, creating an inviting ambiance that set the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal. The brunch menu offered a fantastic array of dishes. I opted for the classic French Toast, paired with a side of Nueske bacon. Each bite was a perfect balance of flavors. And to finish off, for desert a delicious Lemon Tart. The jazz band, a trio consisting of a trumpeter, a bassist, and a pianist, added an extra layer of enjoyment. Their smooth melodies were the perfect backdrop, creating an intimate and lively atmosphere. It was wonderful to see other patrons tapping their feet and nodding along to the music, adding to the overall joyous vibe of the brunch. Service was attentive and friendly, with our server ensuring our glasses were never empty and our plates arrived promptly. If you’re looking for a charming spot to enjoy a leisurely brunch while being serenaded by lovely jazz in the Maplewood area , Lorena’s is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return for another delightful experience!

A little cool French inspired restaurant with a bar upfront, seating wrap-around in Maplewood NJ. Street/muni parking, so it may be a little hard to find a spot on the busy days. Service was ok; often came around for water and interrupted conversations for picking up plates (some false starts with people still eating). I tried the French Onion Soup - love the crisp crunch of the crouton, but the soup itself was overly sweet. The escargot looked great - will have to try that next time. Even my neighbor's salad looked really good. Tried the special pork chop - giant, thick cut and delicious, which was good it was thick, the balsamic maple glaze was far too sweet otherwise, a little went a long way, but the mushroom/farro/kale was soaked underneath, tough to eat it all since too sweet. The dessert - they were able to do a candle, but they brought out the wrong dessert (a coffee panna cotta? instead of the chocolate lava cake). I had a great strawberry panna cotta, a little champagne flavor. Overall, tended to the sweet side, will have to try some of the other dishes next time. Definitely very positive points for a trend of what looks to be very good food.

FOOD NOW Is SUBPAR, we’ve been going to this restaurant for 15-20 years to celebrate our Anniversary every year, Pre COVID. Here we are celebrating our Anniversary at the new location. this is our first time visiting new location. The level of service , experience, atmosphere Food Everything! Horrible! They Fell so much off that it is Astonishing! My food was inedible! How can you have olives and Glutino crackers that you can get from ShopRite, as an appetizer at a fine restaurant? Really? Ultimate Fail! 👎 We were So dissatisfied disappointed ! Ruined our Anniversary! had nothing but glutino crackers to eat. Manager came to table . told him how I felt,, he did nothing! I don’t really care, we paid for my husbands meal which he also communicated was not the same We just left! Good thing we went to the Polo Bar in NYC yesterday ! Now This is a fine restaurant! This place here Lorena’s clearly IS NOT!!! ! This is one the same caliber as Bonefish now! We WILL NEVER Be BACK!! 🤢🤮

The atmosphere was great and the staff was very friendly. The oysters were not as fresh as expected but distinct to the taste. The main entrees were good. My wife had the Salmon toast. The onions could have been cut in half instead of a whole slice to balance out the flavors. Beside that the presentation and taste were spot on. I had the petite ribeye frites medium rare but came out medium well. The butter on top of the steak is a little over powering with the blue cheese if you let it melt completely. My son had the macaroni and cheese which was very good. Onto dessert, we had creme brulee and the raspberry cheese cake. Out of the two, the creme brulee was the best which took us by surprise since it did not look like your typical brulee but the coffee flavor paired with the white chocolate crunch was delightful. The cocktails were delicious and carefully curated. Over all it was a great experience paired nicely with a live jazz band .
