St James's Gate Publick House — Restaurant in Maplewood

Did a pick up order and half the order was absolutely terrible. Fish and chips were greasy, undercooked and soggy, the Irish soup was not great either ( French onion) hardly any cheese or bread, mostly broth and onions. This was Very disappointing, not to mention I called to speak with a manager and the hostess was down right RUDE , she told me there’s nothing she can do about it because they’re busy. Very unfortunate because we have eaten here many times and it’s been great but tonight it was so very bad and no help or refund! The hostess said to email the restaurant because a manager was busy too lol. We’re moving tomorrow so not alot of time to be running food back 15 minutes away because they didn’t cook it properly which the hostess said… bring it back in her snobby rude tone. I would give this place 5 stars because the food and staff is awesome BUT they really need to look into hiring a new greeter. We walked in for brunch and the girl (who looked 18) didn't even acknowledge us for 3 min. She was slouched over and looked half asleep. Then when we asked to be seating she looked annoyed and said, "Only if you're gonna eat." Um, okay. She seats us and literally looks dead the entire time we are there. the place was packed and there were no tables and a father with his 2 small kids came in and she pointed to us and said wait 2 min we are almost done. We were half way though our food! She sat them on the bench right next to us and we just got stared at the rest of the time. So awkward. The quality of the food has gone way down. My last visit I ordered the American Burger with the usual fixings. The patty was definitely the same you would get in a standard diner. It was overcooked and dried out. The bun had been over toasted - I could tell it was stale and the toasting was to camouflage that fact. My previous visit here I got the fish and chips. One piece of the fish was definitely “off” I brought it to the attention of the waiter, who had no reaction when I told him. It’s a shame because this place is cozy and does have the feel of an Irish pub and the food used to be good when I first started dining here several years ago.
