True Salvage Cafe — Restaurant in Maplewood

The food in this place NEVER disappoints! When I first moved in, I was very excited to visit. This was at the beginning of 2021. Just recently they’ve opened up to allow indoor dining and it really does enrich the experience. Everyone is super nice, food is unbelievably good and I just can’t say enough good things about TS. Initially, my only gripe was that I was disappointed to find out they didn’t have lattes on their menu. Nothing fancy, just some espresso with steamed milk would be nice. But hey, maybe it’s in the works?? 😏 Or not, and that’s A-Okay with me. In any case, TS is definitely worth a visit! Beware of David Heffernan. He takes advantage of old people, he comes and looks at their antiques, sweet talks them, and pays them much less for their antiques then they’re worth. I asked around after my elderly mother was taken advantage of and I asked David to please return the items and we would pay him back and he refused. What I found out from numerous people in the business, is that he has a very bad reputation, and he’s known to do this. Unfortunately, a family member brought him to my mother, I would have asked around about him before bringing him so now, unfortunately we not only do not have the items back, we were told the items he took for me $500 would have been sold for thousands. Really nice interior design, the only thing I would change are the things out front of the window. The reason why I never went earlier when I would walk/bike/drive-by was that it was hard to see what kind of place it was by just looking in. As far as the food goes what I had (hummus wrap) was quite great, however, it was the only single item on the vegan menu. At this point when I go to cafes, there are usually a decent handful of vegan and vegetarian options, but they were lacking here. There were plenty of options that could have been made available if they carried either beyond or impossible meat alternatives(previously said burgers).
