Extra Supermarket — Local services in Maplewood

I use to shop here often for all of my grocery needs but that shifted after I had a bad experience with steak I had purchased. I don't know if the beef was old or what but it spoiled in my fridge over night which has never happened to any meat I'm about to cook. It could have been a fluke but it happened to 2 packs of beef which weirded me out. Everything else is pretty good here. I stopped purchasing bacon from them because the bacon fridge is always luke warm instead of cold. It's probably broken. Otherwise, they do have a nice variety of goods. The store seems to have improved greatly in these past months. Better options are available than before. Noticed they even started carrying whole bakery cakes which was nice to see. They're only really missing a fresh deli section. But otherwise it's an overall decent supermarket with all the essentials you may be...

I usually shop here every weekday morning after work (spending at least $80 a week)and I arrive around the time some employees come in and hang around the registers.. Most of my interactions are usually pleasant with them but today 1 of those employees before even clocking in was watching me shop and I overheard him speaking in Spanish (on the phone) that I was stealing in the soup aisle because I came in with a bag.. the other employee that wasn’t clocked in also was standing by the door eyeing me down at the exit, then entered back into the store as I left.. What I had in my medication and gauze for post surgery care (which I emptied at the register, placed my groceries in, then my medication on top) I suggest letting employees on the clock, handle potential shoplifters.. this entire situation has made me feel uncomfortable and I won’t...

I am not a frequent customer here, but I did have a pleasant shopping experience. I only went in to pick up some Lima beans and noticed the variety they had. I also found a brand that is new to me: Jack Rabbit. I ended up getting many bags of beans to store some up for the soups and meatless meals I plan to prepare in the colder months. An added bonus was that this "new-to-me brand" is also non gmo, which is a BONUS in my book. Having non GMO foods mean so much to me. I do plan to to return to stock up on my beans and lentils. The reason for the 4 stars is that I did notice that some of their prices for other things were a bit inflated. Other than that, no complaints here. Thanks Extra...
