While entering ventnor from the Atlantic City expressway are you viewed a billboard for Maynard's Cafe. It's stated that they were world famous. I thought that this would be a place to try out. My companion and I decided that we would go for lunch. We found the location of Maynard's easily enough. Parking would definitely be an issue later in the day. Because we had never been there before we did not know how to enter the restaurant. there appeared to be two entrances one to the outside area and 1/2 the inside bar and pool tables. We choose to go inside due to smoking being permissible on the patio. The inside of the bar is definitely on the dive list. It is a circular bar with pool tables and TV sets surrounding it. The menu is strictly bar fair and limited. My companion and I each ordered a hamburger which came with a bag of chips and a pickle. I ordered lettuce and tomato to accompany my burger. When the burgers arrived my burger did not have the lettuce and tomato on it so I sent it back, which is a thing I usually never do in a restaurant. It took another 15 minutes for it to be returned to me with one skimpy leaf of lettuce and diced tomatoes like you would put on a taco. Not what I had thought when I ordered additional lettuce and tomato. The burgers do appear to be homemade and not just a frozen patty. I feel that Maynard's is more of a nighttime bar for 20-somethings. They do offer live music on the weekends. This is not an establishment for families or even for lunch or dinner. I believe it is more of a let's get drunk and dance type of place. So if that's what you're looking for Maynard's...

Terrible today. We felt very unwelcome today with our dogs. Normally the staff goes above and beyond when we come here to eat. We go here a lot and could not believe the treatment we received today. Awful, rude and unprofessional. Waitress kept telling us they were really busy so they couldn't make my fish without seasoning, she refused to give my husband his drink in a cup. People who go there to eat, you know it's known for being dog friendly, so if you don't like dogs, you shouldn't go there to eat outside. Our dogs are very well behaved and we go here all the time and today the snobby manager and horrible waitress who honestly made us pay for our beverages that we didn't drink, before we just decided to leave, were unprofessional and rude. The waitress was yelling to us while taking our order, completely inexperienced, she was worried she'd be fired if she asked them to make the fish without seasoning and allow us to order a plate of chicken for the dogs. Today was an awful experience. Also, the bathrooms here are filthy and unsanitary. No soap, towels and toilet paper holder is broken in both bathrooms. It's been that way all summer!! Not happy with this...

Food unseasonably, very slow service, understaffed. There was a craft show event going on and they knew about it but they did not staff properly. Started by sitting at the bar and was ignored for 15 minutes then was able to take a table. Placed order and then waited about an hour for 2 medium rare burgers, table that came 20 minutes after us with 8 people place there orders and received there food 25 minutes later and the also had burgers...there was no explanation of why they got first and no one cared atthe establishment. Will never return until they figure out how to prioritize orders. I am a chef that had a very rare day off and understand restaurants but to ignore a table that was there first with the order I can not take the justification of just being understaffed when larger groups that arrive after and order for another table was place and still receive there order first. Kitchen, management and all staff just didn't care. 1 star was to high to give but can't...

The tradition Maynard's in Margate continues, with the proud ownership with the Son of Atlantic City Island Grandmaster Al Triano, Steve Triano. Steve has over the years improved and added the outside a Garden, with beautifully designed new bars outside in several areas, with additional waitress stations, canopies, chairs, umbrellas which makes for a beautiful setting along the Margate Bay. Steve has the ability of hiring the best waitresses, porter's, bartenders, and Security people. The waitresses are lightning fast. Services are excellent. The bartenders are always friendly and with the security, you feel safe. Unparalleled in his accomplishments, Steve has created what I would consider a Bar, that would match up with anyone, anywhere, from Maine to the Florida Keys. He provides live music as much as possible, backing up with a DJ on the interims. Not to mention the food great. I would rate Maynard's in Margate a Ten!

Maynard’s is an example of a restaurant that does high volume and has high marks for keeping service organized while making great food. My wife had the chicken stir fry with sauce on the side and she really loved it. She is picky so I knew it was as good as she exclaimed. I had the Sour Dough Patty Melt and the burger was very tasty. I do prefer a patty melt on rye, so the sour dough was more fluffy than I would have liked and I suggest maybe adding butter to the inside of bread to lessen the dryness, but it tasted great and the caramelized onions were spot on.

Stopped in on a beautiful day in October, sitting by the bar outside. Great service from my bartender, even better blackened Mahi mahi sandwich. The spices were tasty, but not overbearing. The fish fillet was moist, meaty and cooked just right. Can't wait to go back and try the rib sandwich. Btw, liked the Atlantic City chowder, which was a combo of NE and Manhattan.
