First off, I would preface this by saying my girlfriend and I have been coming to Holy Cow for ice cream pretty much every weekend since we moved to Coconut Creek about 18-19 months ago. In our opinion, this is the best place for ice cream in the area hands down. Wide selection of flavors and food items to order along with food trucks on Saturday nights that provide some nice dinner options as well. I would recommend this place to anyone, even after this disappointing experience, which was the only one I had in this span of time. I am trying to be very fair and ensure that anyone who reads this review knows that it does not represent anything more than this one experience and not the place as a whole. Furthermore, this review only exists because of how the staff handled this incident, not because the incident happened.
My girlfriend and I came in to get a couple of cups of ice cream and there was a woman and child ahead of us and once the staff member came to take our order, a gentleman that was behind us in the line just came up and interrupted us and asked for a sample of ice cream and then appeared to order a scoop of something. I alerted the staff person that he was cutting the line but she had claimed that he already paid. In all the times I had been here, roughly 60 times at this point (An approximation, not an exaggeration) I have never had to pay for ice cream prior to ordering it. You just order it; they give it to you in the cup or cone and then go to the register to complete your purchase. I was skeptical about this and then about 1-2 minutes later, this gentleman was up at the register completing his order. Thought he already paid? While all this was going on and we were still waiting for a staff member to come take our order, the couple that was in line behind us was getting their order taken by another staff member who just came out of their kitchen. So, we were looking at the prospect of getting cut in line again. We were starting to get upset at this point and my girlfriend went to that staff member to inform them that we were in line before this couple. Another staff member came over to us and we asked to speak to a manager but she said no manager was available. Well ok, but other than telling us no manager was available, nothing was done or suggested to remedy this situation. Once we finally got our order and went to the register to pay, one staff member who was told of this situation and was ringing us up claimed that she knew who the gentleman was and it was the policy to pay for ice cream first and then order. Again, this has not been the case for about 60 times that I have been there. If this is true, at best, this policy is not being followed since even the people in line before us were ordering and then paying. At worst, this seems to be just something that was said to us to justify what already occurred as it is completely contrary to every experience we have had at Holy Cow for almost 2 years.
Overall, this was a disappointing situation that I don't believe is reflective of customer service at Holy Cow. However, when this was brought to the attention of the staff, they seemed defensive and less than conciliatory without wanting to take any accountability and just own this situation. I don't think this was done purposely and was more from a lack of coordination and paying attention to who was first in the line than anything. Thank you for responding to my review. However, I must respectfully clarify that your statement is inaccurate. While you mentioned that the wait was 18 minutes, I was actually there for 40 minutes. My order was placed 20 minutes before I was able to pay, and I then waited an additional 20 minutes before I approached the counter, wondering where my order was. During this time, I observed other customers who had ordered after me receiving their ice cream well before I did.
I also want to address the issue of being ignored while I was at the counter, even though there were several employees present. It was disheartening to see that other customers were attended to before me.
Additionally, I’ve noticed a recurring pattern in the reviews of your store, where negative feedback is consistently met with defensive responses. Lastly, I’m concerned about how I was surrounded when your husband came behind the counter and got in my face while the bartender also stepped on my face. That’s how you treat a customer who is asking about his order. Your husband is the one who over reacted not me.
I hope this feedback helps bring attention to the areas in need of improvement, as it is important for businesses to take accountability for customer experiences.

I recently visited this establishment with my family, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We paid $55 for ice cream, and while we received three of our orders in a reasonable amount of time, it took 15 minutes for my daughter’s tornado and 30 minutes for my wife’s. After waiting for an extended period, I finally got frustrated and asked the staff about the status of our order, but the owner (or a person who appeared to be the owner) responded aggressively, claiming I should not speak to his wife in that manner. This was in response to a simple inquiry I made due to the loud DJ music playing during their Saturday event.
As tensions rose, another individual approached as if to intervene and surrounded me. It seemed that the staff was more focused on socializing in the back room rather than attending to customers. After feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, I decided to leave with my family but I returned to request a refund since we had waited for over 40 minutes. Unfortunately, I lost my receipt during the prolonged wait, and I was unable to obtain a refund.
While the ice cream itself was good, the lack of professionalism, poor customer service, and uncomfortable atmosphere due to aggressive individuals make me hesitant to recommend this place, especially for families. Read moreI moved away but came back to visit, and stumbled across this place after coming from the water park…and BOY AM I GLAD WE DID! The service here was amazing. CLEAN & BEAUTIFUL. I had the opportunity to be serviced by Destiny & held great conversation with Mel…both amazing people. The concern shown and desire to know whether or not I enjoyed my time made me is enjoy our meals even more. The vibes here were amazing, I’m a 90s baby so the music here fed my soul.The customer service was top tier…we were greeted the moment we walked thru the door. The set up and aesthetics in here catered to just about everyone. From the air hockey table, mini bar section w/tv to watch, the gamers section where you can indulge in a ps5/Xbox gaming session..down to the swinging chair with the cute pink backdrop for pictures!
