We were in town on business and decided to grab a bite from Frankās take-out to bring back to the hotel. When we arrived, the young female order-taker was telling a customer at the window the side items they were OUT (red beans & rice, baked beans, collard greens, potato salad, etc.)He politely asked when the items might be available, and she gave him attitude, before a voice in the background said the potato salad was ready. He shook his head, placed his Po-Boy order, and returned to his car. We stepped to the window, and I asked the waitress for clarification on the āPotato Salad (Southern Style)ā. With a foul attitude, she replied, āit's just regular potato salad.ā I asked why it states āsouthern style,ā and she only repeated āitās regular potato salad,ā when a voice in the background added, āit has eggs.ā This makes a difference for someone who does not eat or want eggs in their potato salad or may be a vegetarian. So why the attitude? We placed the order, a pork rib platter ($12) with two sides and a side order of shrimp (5 for $3) and piece of catfish ($2), and a fried pork chop platter with two side ($8). We could not wait to dig into our soul food back at the hotel but what a complete letdown! Having waited 25 minutes for undercooked shrimp (slightly raw inside); overcooked, dried-out, tough and chew pork chops; pork ribs that tasted like they had been boiled and then reheated on the grill; catfish the size of a nugget (one-fourth of a whole); and so-so mac & cheese and potato salad. The dirty rice and Cajun corn were the only edible items. In concert with other reviewers, the food (we managed to actually eat) was not good and the STEREOTYPICAL BAD...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the worst āsoul foodā restaurant I been. The pork chop was bland and dry. The Mac and cheese did not have any real cheese in it. More like plastic slice cheese. It had way too much black pepper in it. The rice was ok it was a lil spice but it have the potential to be good with additional ingredients. They wait time is over 30 mins. Never again. You might as well drive some where else to get real food. I recommend A1 soul food in Atlanta. The food is very good, affordable, and you donāt have to wait for food to be made. Thank me later.
FYI: I am not affiliated with A1 soul food. I am customer who loves to eat good food. I was disappointed on the quality of the food I received at this restaurant and offered my opinion on another location that is much better. Another restaurant I forgot to mention is called fried tomatoes buffet in Kennesaw. Itās cost around 10 dollars and comes with a drink. They have pork chops, ribs, hot wings, macaroni, desserts etc on certain days. They website will provide all the details on their menu. I did not write this review to tear down any establishment, you can learn a few things from my review and revamp your recipes! Lol if i did own al soul food I would have been put yāall out of business by offering all your customers who comes in with a receipt a free meal for wasting their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food is good...darn good! The wings, fish, ribs...if it's on their menu...it's good. The fries can be undercooked sometimes but it hasn't been enough to make me stop ordering them. The reason I'm giving them a 4 instead of a 5 is due to the young girl who answers the phones. She sounds like she has an attitude, is curt, and will cut you off while you are talking. Now I get that they can be busy but if I'm giving you my order don't interrupt me. If I forget to mention an option that's available, once I'm finished then ask do you want/need...etc. I stopped patronizing them for months bc of her and also bc my complaint to them was met with a response that made it seem like I was the one with the issue. I see in looking at other reviews her behavior is still not being addressed based upon the responses from the owner. So I don't go there as much as I was and if she answers I hang up and go elsewhere. I like Michael answers...he's always pleasant when I call and there's another guy there, idk his name, but he's always...
