Today was probably the worst experience we have had at this location. We discovered this place a few months ago and had a couple good visits, but unfortunately, today’s experience was a major letdown.
We ordered a mixed chicken and beef kabob platter, only to find that the chicken was undercooked and visibly pink. We informed the staff, and instead of handling the situation properly, they returned the same plate without removing the raw chicken. We had to wrap the pieces ourselves in napkins just to throw them away. It felt like a waste of time and came across as very unprofessional and quite frankly DISGUSTING.
I could see the 2 cooks from where I was sitting and they seem to have an attitude and was irritated because we complained about the RAW CHICKEN. They looked like they don’t care about food handling and just want to push out whatever they make and not care if they serve a raw dish.
They did prepare a new batch of chicken, but no one let us know when it was ready. We noticed a plate sitting on the counter for a while and eventually figured out it was probably ours. No one called our number or even acknowledged us. The staff seemed more focused on customers that seemed to be arab descent and brand new customers, while we were left waiting and ignored. An update or some kind of follow up would have been nice being that they were not that busy.
We finally picked up the, now cold, chicken and ate it, feeling disappointed. This place usually has friendly staff and well-cooked food, but today was an exception that really changed how I feel about coming back.
Sadly, I will not be returning and will not be recommending this location to others. Undercooked chicken is a serious health hazard and I truly hope they train their kitchen staff properly. I have been poisoned in the past due to something like this so I don’t take these kind of things lightly. Food safety should always be a priority and should be something they learn to address,...
Read moreFor my birthday, one of my coworkers brought me back some treats from this restaurant after she visited it on a weekend trip. Such a thoughtful gift!
I can't comment on the atmosphere, service, or more meal-oriented foods, but I really did enjoy my desserts!
She brought me one plate of a variety of flavors of baklava and another with a variety of Turkish delight.
They were presented prettily and nicely wrapped and sealed, so they were probably pretty easy to travel with.
The baklava was yummy! So many nice layers and stuffed with fresh chopped nuts. There were several traditionally flavored pieces as well as one strawberry and one chocolate flavored piece. The chocolate was quite good; I was less crazy about the strawberry. I enjoyed it all, though I think my "perfect" piece of baklava is a little less sweet than these.
The Turkish delight was actually a lovely surprise! I was quite convinced in the past I didn't like Turkish delight, but I'd only really tried the kind you can get prepackaged in an international type grocery store. That doesn't hold a candle to this stuff! It came in tons of different flavors -- I honestly couldn't identify them all, but I liked pretty much all of them A LOT! Four pieces were, I'm pretty sure, rose water flavored. They were gorgeous and absolutely packed FULL of perfectly crunchy, fresh chopped nuts. The chew is way more pleasant than a gummy bear; it's not as tough and way less artificial tasting. My husband remarked that it sort of reminds him of Swedish fish. I devoured every piece except for the two very brightly colored pieces that didn't have nuts.
Very happy to report I've been converted to a Turkish delight fan! If I'm passing through Marietta in the future, I'll definitely swing by and try the other stuff...
Read moreThis middle eastern restaurant is situated in an out of the way location. However the food here is so popular that people visit this place often.
From the outside, the building is huge and on the left part of the building, there is a middle eastern store and bakery that serves delicious bakery items and baklawa.
As you enter the restaurant you are encountered with a huge corridor with a beautiful fountain. There is ample seating. The restaurant is clean and the ambience and decor are beautiful.
You can order the food at the counter or order at the self-serve kiosk. We ordered chicken kabob platter, lentil soup and a side of 6 falafel. The chicken kabab platter came with rice, hummus, baba ganoush and tabouli salad. The chicken kababs were soft and succulent, rice aromatic and other elements were tasty. Falafal were fresh and crispy but we have had better. Lentil soup came with a pita bread and was good if you want a simple and non-spicy side with your food.
We also stopped by the market section and bought semolina and coconut cakes. The semolina one was alright but we liked the coconut one better. It was quite tasty. The market also had fresh breads which we might buy on our future visits.
Overall a good place with great food for reasonable prices.
