From a professional reviewers standpoint the ingredients used in the products are of quality But, The production of the food and utilization of the products is conducted very poorly. The majority of the food is bland and has little or no season and taste. If you dine at this restaurant be prepared to wait onwards of 20 minutes for an appetizer and/or salad! And then be prepared to wait onwards of 45 minutes to an hour from the time you are seated to get your entree. The famous flavorful Italian sauce is NOT found at this restaurant and the taste is of tomatoe puree without a drop of heartful seasoning. The meat at this facility is bland and also poorly seasoned. The only thing you may find is a decent presentation of the food but not the quality. The cost of a 2 person dinner will leave you with ATLEAST a 50$ charge or more. The head chef seems to seek perfection and fails at it. The decor at this restaurant looks dated and the flooring looks of the 1980s. When you are sat down at your table, you are given water out of The hand WASHING sink. Not only is this unsanitary, but who knows what chemicals have been in that sink. The server Dane is professional, If you do choose to spend onwards of 100$ here at this flavorless establishment, please ask for Dane. This establishment qualifies to be on Kitchen Nightmares. Edit : this was a professional review. Even the owner showed his arrogance with his reply of a true critique of the quality of food. Seeing as I lived and breathed It. The proof is in the pudding. Professionalism please.

Piastra came highly recommended by the local cake shop. Welp, it didn’t really hit the mark for being the best restaurant in the square! The hostess was RUDE and snappy… so much so that we actually left for a walk with our boys rather than deal with her while we waited for our table to become available. The atmosphere is bland at best, it’s very open and was pretty loud not allowing for an intimate dinner setting if that’s what your going for. If I was to frequent this spot again I would ask for a window seat— that seemed the nicest. The bathroom door doesn’t lock. Thankfully it was only my son that walked in on me. The food was okay… they were out of mussels so we ordered calamari which the sauce was very sour, clumped, and had an overwhelming taste of vinegar. I ordered the carbonara which was good, simple. My husband first started with the lamb which was the very last order—- it was order that should have stayed in the fridge rather than be served to any patron— the cut was all fat and bone and two small bites of actual meat and the potatoes came out hard as rock. He sent it back and ordered the tomahawk pork chop— much better cut and the vegetables were cooked. Highly recommend their version of chocolate lava cake… very rich but definitely the high spot of the meal. The price of each meal was right on point and given everything this spot is worth the price!

Ate at Piastra for the first time this evening. Their reputation proceeded itself as for all my friends and family have been dining here for years and loving it. I have to admit, I roll my eyes whenever someone says they have a great Italian restaurant for me to try. As for most all are run of the mill and no different than the next American version of Italian food. Having had first and second generation Italian friends growing up, I know what true Italian food is like and well PIASTRA IS THAT! I must say it was even better than the hype. I had the Tagliatelle Nero di Mare….hand rolled (made in house) black and white ribbon pasta with Little Neck Clams, Mussels, Garlic, Calabrese Chilies (not spicy just flavorful), and white wine. I typically do not prefer clams and mussels but these will blow your mind with flavor. Don’t let the wait for a table discourage you…if all the tables are taken when you come here, do yourself a favor and sit at the bar. Noah will serve your every want and need. Hands down, he’s the most attentive server/bartender on the square.

Writing this review about 10 mins after getting our order. We're visiting from Michigan for 2 weeks and trying a bunch of local spots, but this is one to avoid. Marietta Food Hall and the square have so many options and it's not worth spending your money here. The story:

We called to place a carryout order as per the site. Got out in hold for 10 mins, so we hung up thinking something might've gone wrong. Called 3 more times, all to voicemail. Came in since we were heading that direction anyways despite it, and the last behind the bar had some serious attitude when we said we tried to call but couldn't get through.

We ended up ordering an appetizer and 2 pizzas - margherita and bianco - and both pizzas are messed up. We asked for extra basil on the margherita, and we got zero instead. The margherita also has tomatoes listed as a topping on the site but those are gone too. It's just a cheese pizza. The bianco, on the other hand, has ingredients that aren't supposed to be on it. It wasn't my pizza (I had the margherita) so I couldn't tell you specifically what was added, just that it was wrong.

To top it off, I asked for a side of pizza sauce cause I like to dip crust. You know, just a little thing on the side. We got charged multiple dollars for a tub of sauce, but it's spaghetti sauce, not pizza sauce. So they got that wrong too.

I don't like to write negative reviews and usually try to solve it through the restaurant. We tried calling back and again, no answer. It's weird cause when we went they had plenty of staff and it wasn't busy.

We threw most of the order away. I'm sure they're better than this normally but with so many options nearby, it's never worth going here when you know you'll get better service and food within 10 feet.

Edit: I have a pic of the pizza screw ups but can't post it. Sorry guys

Edit 2: It won't let me reply to the owners comments so just using an edit instead. I appreciate the response but...what? I've never heard of anyone leaving a voicemail at a restaurant expecting them to call back ASAP, and even beyond that, what is the rest of the response? Explained how food was made? That wasn't even relevant to my initial review, and no one did that because 1) we knew what we wanted when we came in and 2) literally no one involved with the order felt the need to wonder if explain how food is made because it's not a...thing. And again, no one explained what each item was because...we literally had the mobile site up since we tried to order by phone before and showed the person what we wanted lol. To anyone who made it this far in the review, I think Piastra's response kinda tells you the quality of the restaurant: just some deflection and mediocrity. I stand by my initial review despite the response and would recommend any nearby food choices over it since there...

I'll be honest, two things made me a little nervous about trying this place out. First, I was able to get a last minute reservation for Mother's Day dinner. I tried several other places before I reserved a table here. Second, I've read a few reviews that said the food didn't have much flavor and that it was overpriced for the portion size. I would not agree with either of these.

First, this is not a chain Italian restaurant. Everything is not going to have over the top strong flavors like super garlicky breadsticks and tomatoe sauce laden with sugar to enhance the flavor. For instance, I specifically read a review saying the Indentro (colossal ravioli) didn't have any flavor. I completely disagree. The white sauce on the top isn't strong, it has very delicate flavor that I liked a lot and the tomato filling was very good. My wife and two sons each had something different and everyone agreed the food was great. As to portion size, we shared an appetizer, had a main course and then also a dessert and we all brought home part of our entree. So, the food I would give five stars. We will definitely be back.

The reason for the 4 star review is the service was a little off in a couple of areas. First, we came down to the square to walk around and shop before dinner. We found that most of the stores were closed. We walked by the restaraunt and saw that more than half of the tables were empty. It was 40 minutes before our reservation but we decided to ask if we could have our table early and we were told they were booked up and far too busy to take us early. That's understandable BUT when we came back, there were only one or two more tables seated and they seated us at one of the few tables that was still open from when we came by earlier. Second, my wife and I ordered salads and even pointed to the item on the menu when I ordered, in case I butchered the Italian name. We never received them, which is not a big deal since we weren't charged. The waitress was also hit and miss. We were there for almost two hours, all said. She would come check on us every few minutes and then disappear for a while. There was also a mix-up on one son's dessert. It was supposed to come with a certain cookie but they were out, so she offered a different cookie with it. She thought he just said never-mind but he said OK. Again, not a big deal but by the time we could flag her down again, my wife was almost done with her dessert. Yes, minor issues but you do somewhat expect top notch service as the price...

My fiancee and I just moved here about 3 months ago and our very first excursion was Marietta Square. We both love Italian food and had a family member visiting from out of state. We decided we wanted to try this restaurant out, especially after reading the great reviews. Needless to say, we were all highly disappointed. We arrived early for our reservation and that was no trouble at all because it was 30 mins after opening; hardly any other diners there. We were seated promptly and discussed our options as we were famished! I could overhear a waitress being trained, it happened to be ours; no big deal. But, we never heard the specials for that evening. After about 15-20 mins our appetizer came, fried risotto balls, pretty good! All this time, however, we weren't offered any bread, in fact, we had to ask for some. Moments later our salads arrived with the bread, again, pretty tasty! At this point we are all reaching the point of being full, but excited to try our entrees! We had the lasagna, chicken parm and eggplant parm. Every single dish was bland, no flavor whatsoever. The chicken parm also arrived with a bone in it? Never have we seen chicken parm made this way, maybe chicken cacciatore? If so, that's not what we order and I'm pretty sure that's not even on the menu. The eggplant parm was 2 layers with cheese in between. Problem with this is the bottom layer gets completely soggy, like a wet sponge; with no flavor! And the lasagna has 4 different cheeses, but is so stuffed with cheese that's all you're eating. They were all a huge disappointment, nothing good about any of them. We opted to try the tiramisu to try and end the evening on a high note. It apparently is something to rave about... not so much. The lady fingers are standing vertically so the tops stick out and are completely dry! All in all, we won't be coming back and it's too bad because we were hoping this would be a hit. 2 stars because the servers were great and helped the waitress in training quite a bit. Though one in particular kept touching her hair and then serving plates of food right after, gross. The ambiance is also a little dark and dismal. Plus, whatever construction is going on upstairs makes for a...
