This was my first time eating at this restaurant and honestly I will not return here, probably will give it a second chance for redemption. First, the positive notes before we walk over to the dark side. The restaurant is beautiful and cozy. It's a small place that packs a powerful decor. It's a great place for an intimate setting with a date or significant other, plus it's excellent for family or friendly gatherings. I love how the sushi bar is open and you can watch the magic happen. The prices are just right when paying for sushi especially fresh fish. I got the Sushi Sashimi with Tempura. The Sashimi was on point. This was the first sushi spot I visited in Georgia and the Sashimi was thick cut and not a thin piece of fish. It was delicious and the sushi was great. But here's where the story turns, the miso soup was thrash. I've had plenty of miso soup from Oregon to Georgia and this miso soup was a real bummer. It didn't not taste like the traditional soup nor had the clear both color. It honestly taste like old miso soup from a few days ago and not made that day. The Tempura was also a let down. The two pieces of shrimp that were served were the only good items but they were covered in too much batter. The vegetables lacked seasoning and were warm when I received them. The customer service has contributed to why I gave them a two. When I arrived there were two parties of six, one was eating and the other had food coming out but I waited close to ten minutes before being noticed. It took 30 minutes for my meal to be prepared, which I was told 20 perfectly cool I understand food takes time, but the extra 10 minutes happened because the server looked at my packed food on the counter but didn't get my food. Eventually, I said freak it in my mind and went to get my own food. Overall I would give them 2 and a half stars but hopefully I come back after a second try and fix the review because I love sushi. I love sushi from Kroger and Walmart so I know this place can do better. Stay...
Read moreWe go here often on our lunch break but instead of looking forward to the food, we mostly hope that the service will be quick. It is never quick. It has nothing to do with how long the food takes to come out. I've worked in a restaurant for many years and one of them being a sushi place. It's the service here. You're server takes too long to come to the table, never comes back which means never brings the check. You always have to ask someone for it. We have an hour for lunch as most people do who dine during lunch at this place. Today was the last straw though. Today it was not busy at all which leads me to believe a lot of others have given up on this place too. We usually order sushi and a side of fried rice. As we were eating we found a hair stuck to the bottom of the plate under the fried rice. We stopped eating and brought it to our servers attention. She jerked the plate off the table, never said anything, and ran to what we assume to be the managers/owners and showed them. They whipped their heads at us real quick with a glare. They kept staring and then would look down at the plate. We only assume they were trying to figure out if we planted it there. They went so far as to take the plate to a window to get a better look at the color of the hair. Our check was brought to us with no discount or apology. We paid and waited for our waitress to return with our cards. Still no apology, we got up to leave and she came running out of the kitchen with ice cream with still no apology. I guess she thought the ice cream would speak for itself...It was already 1:53 and we were due back to work at 2. Why would we even want to eat anything else that came out if that kitchen anyway? We took at look through the window of the kitchen before we left, no hair nets and several people with long hair. We will not be going back needless to say. The lighting is dim in there, I would suggest inspecting your food...
Read moreI was a little skeptical at first because someone had marked the place as upscale and I was concerned I would be underdressed. Upon entering the establishment my fears were relieved. I felt comfortable in shorts and a tee shirt. As for the food. I do not frequent Thai or sushi houses so I was a little overwhelmed. The menu had good descriptions of each plate and item. We took a long time to order because of my lack of knowledge with oriental cruisine. Our waitor was pleasant, courtesous, and patient. We did not feel rushed or pressured to order. We had the rainbow roll which was a nice selection for two people. Since we we were on a mini vacation we had the Thai sampler as well. It was very good, but the sushi was better. For a main course I had the combo fried rice. It was not my favorite, Im not a huge fan of cooked tomatoes. Once I had them out of the way and added a small amount of soy sause I couldn't stop eating. Of course it was a huge portion and I had enough left over for lunch the next day. My wife had the peppered steak and thought it was great. Her portion was equally as large. I will most likely not return to this area due to being on a vacation, but I highly recommend the Thaicoon and Sushi Bar. Thanks to Lloyd from the Stanley House and Inn for...
