Hadn't been to Moe's since probably around the time of COVID. We used to always come here on Mondays, especially for the $9.99 burrito deal. I used to get a burrito, and my wife ALWAYS ordered a pork stacker. We loved the fresh salsas and the fresh made iced tea. So, we decided to stop in tonight, since we were on route 9.
Well, Moe's has changed its menu DRASTICALLY, and not for the better. They've eliminated a lot of key items. One being the option to order pork as a protein. Why they would do that, when competitors, such as Chipotles and even TGIF are providing pork al pastor, for example. This must be a ridiculous management decision.
One other equally ridiculous change is NOT serving real taco shell bowls. If you order a bowl now, it comes on a plastic plate! Who the heck wants to eat on a plastic plate? Maybe this is more convenient for the restaurant, but it certainly is not the "authentic" experience Moe's used to provide. If they want to serve kids, etc on plates - fine. But at least OFFER the real TACO bowls, and maybe charge $1.50 extra.
I get needing to change a menu occasionally. But you come to Moe's for certain items. And if they don't feel it's important enough to offer these items, then there is no reason to eat at this chain.
OK, so the staff was friendly and efficient enough. Plenty of people working here before 8PM on a Friday night. But once the "rush" of customers settled down, why weren't the employees out from behind the counter, replenishing items? They only had 3 salsas tonight, and none of them were exciting or new tastes. The last time we were here, Moe's offered a great pineapple/cucumber dip. And why wasn't there any fresh iced tea or anything to drink? Surely, the staff could have made some when the crowd died down. But no, we were FORCED to use the soda machine as our only option. Again, if this is a management change, then management needs to rethink what they are doing.
If you want to REMOVE items from your menu, you should REPLACE them with something new. Why not offer some type of seafood as protein? Or TACO type salads served in real TACO bowls?
We didn't see any of the workers cleaning the seating area either. No one restocking napkins, emptying trash, cleaning tables, etc. Again there is no excuse for this. And, of course, they seem to also have changed their trash receptacle; whose STUPID idea was that? The plates did NOT fit in the hole, and it was very tricky to even empty trash into the bin. I don't know what other people were doing with their trash, but come on. If you expect the customer to clean up after themselves, why would you provide a trash bin that is difficult to use?
Again MOES seems to have lost their mojo. Nothing exciting here, certainly nothing FREE. (Prices for their guacamole are as high, or even higher, than area restaurants, such as ESCONDIDOS, and ROSALITOS. That is absurd.) This is basically a fast food joint, and they shouldn't be charging such high prices- especially with such a limited menu now. No need to come here...
Read moreEverytime we go there the lineis backedup throuhj the dining room. The Reason: They have a lot of phone orders for pick up if they are intermixing with the orders of the people online in the store thereby causing great delays to the people in the store. All in all this particular restaurant is going downhill very very fast in the way they treat their customers is wrong every time you go in there there are new people behind the counter I don’t even know what to doing and I can’t blame them because they should be trained properly management should step in and do tbeir jobs. Right now I would not recommend this...
Read moreI like Moe's burritos over Chipotle and our local Neato Burritos, as I wrote in a review years ago for my local Moe's: better price, free chips & salsa, and free guac (OK they have since taken that away). But I certainly do not recommend this location for sure.
I wanted to redeem my Dining Advantage credits during my travel to NJ and I was ecstatic to see Moe's on the list. So I purchased the BOGO offer a week prior to my trip. On this day, I was all gung-ho to redeem this offer along with my son. We customized our burrito bowls and was ready to pay for the order. I activated the offer and had 10 minutes to show the BOGO certificate to the cashier before it expired. The cashier attempted something but apparently didn't work so she flagged the manager over. The manager simply stated that they don't participate. I showed him the address on the cert and that as of last week it was still listed. He argued that they stopped accepting these certificates many months ago. I said but I was able to buy this certificate just last week. And he dismissed me by saying that there was no one right here who could do anything for me, that I would have to contact Dining Advantage.
What a bummer. The cert disappeared within 10 minutes of activation. I lost the cert and he's not offering any discount to placate his customer; instead he chose to be combative in his arguments. When I hinted that we didn't want the food, he didn't hesitate to put the bags away and dismissed us. Truly a lose-lose outcome. Quite a bad aftertaste with this location, especially with...
