There really isn't anything quite like a good sub. Unfortunately sub making has become a lost art at the Jersey Shore. I heard about this place and thought, "Man, I'll bet Mr. Sub will know how to make a proper sandwich."
So we ordered an Italian sub, the standard of which all subs should be judged. And a side of fries, because thats how my wife likes it.
Ok, so the fries were cold. Like ice cold. But I'll give them a pass because they might have been hot when I picked them up and they weren't soggy and tasted quite good.
But this isn't Mr. French Fry. This is Mr. Sub, so on to the star of the show!
Ok, so it was disappointing. It was pretty much all ham and lettuce. I took a picture of it. Look at it...just look. There were a couple of thin slices of cheese and a nice tomato slice, I think i saw a paper thin slice of salami in there.
But was it worth $23. No. Sadly, It wasn't. It wasn't awful, but an Italian sub should have ham, capicola, salami, prosciutto....you know, meat! See the picture? There should be no question about if there was enough meat on a $23 sandwich.
So the search for a decent sandwich on the Jersey Shore continues. Best of luck to...
Read moreI recently stopped into Mr. Subs in Marlboro and was really impressed! They use Boar’s Head cold cuts, which instantly sets the bar high, and their menu offers an awesome variety of subs that truly deliver on flavor.
The Mr. Meaty Cheesesteak with shaved ribeye and Cooper Sharp cheese on a seeded roll was incredible — juicy, cheesy, and so satisfying. I also have to rave about the Fat Indian Cheesesteak — a chicken cheesesteak with the perfect amount of spice, loaded with french fries and mozzarella sticks. Total comfort food heaven!
I also tried a couple of their cold-cut sandwiches, including The Kitchen Sink, which has a little bit of everything and lives up to its name. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and generously made.
They even have great Sunday Football specials, making it the perfect spot to grab a sub and watch the game. If you’re in the mood for a seriously good sandwich, definitely check out Mr. Subs in Marlboro — their subs will absolutely satisfy...
Read moreThe food was great and the staff was amazing!! But I have to say I’m shocked and incensed. Today is a the 3rd day of a heatwave. The real feel temp is over 100 degrees. The store felt like there was no ac. When we asked if the ac was broken we were told that this is how it is and it is working. The staff looked completely wiped out from the crazy heat in there, and you can tell they were overwhelmed by the temps. I saw the food was refrigerated, but you have to wonder if the health department would be concerned about food safety with the heat in there at the levels it was. I hope the owners/ managers see this post and make some serious changes for the safety of the staff and food. Otherwise it was a good experience too bad this had to ruin it. We made the order for the ham salami cheese 1/2 sub, impossible cheese steak, and fries. Picked...
