Sawan Indian Cuisine — Restaurant in Marlboro Township

My wife and I discovered Sawan last year after he father passed away and it was a lovely dining experience. Everytime we're in NJ visiting family since discovering this gem we swing by at least once. We were in NJ because my cousin sadly had abruptly passed away and we were greatly appreciative of Sawan's lovely food and hospitality. It really meant a lot to us, it lifted our spirits. I cannot lie.. we went three times in a week as their buffet is awesome. We haven't been to a buffet in 6 years or so, it was a great privilege to have some vegan varieties.

We need to eat a plant-based diet due to health needs and it's a blessing to have such quality food, and quite a few options. If you're vegetarian there is even more options, my brother is a vegetarian and loved it. Typically we can't eat gluten.. but we can eat their vegan bread no problem, that was quite a treat. Their chana masala is awesome, the pakora is great. The cauliflower pakora is incredible, absolutely delicious. Their hot sauce/chutney is also tremendous. I loved their chana chaat as well. Great saag & dal makhani. I wish we didn't live 4½hrs away! The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Service was very splendid as well. They remembered we're vegan and had their vegan bread for without even asking. Overall great folks and great food. God bless you guys, we hope you continued success, keep up...

We had worst experience at this location we had 50 dollars gift certificate from our family friend for this restaurant and on our arrival we showed them gift certificate and lady working there refused to take it claiming we have already used this gift certificate it it’s our first time ever to this restaurant and we haven’t use this gift receipt, the payment receipt we had with gift certificate she claimed that receipt is for we used gift certificate before I had to call my family friend right there to confirm and that made me feel embarrassed I asked lady to call the person who issued this gift certificate named chirag (l guess the owner)and confirm with him she said he is in las vegas on vacation and can’t reach out to him later they did reach out and owner refused too than At the end they came to conclusion that it was issued by owner’s STUPID son and put different date on gift certificate than receipt that caused this problem I was vary disappointed by how unprofessionally they handled this situation Will never recommend this restaurant to anyone and love to take my business...

This is a sad place, very inconsistent in taste and quality and having ongoing issues with their kitchen staff. They mess up every time and never improve on feedback. The other day I got daal makhni - which used to taste and look good, and hence I stick by what is decent.... But I got a container filled with watered down daal. They must be running out, so diluted the left over and packaged it for $13!! Seriously - they are way over priced as well for the quantity and quality of food they serve. The chicken dishes are horrible. I have got uncooked raw chicken served in a dish at the restaurant dining in. They pressure cook the chicken and it is just wired how they run the business in the kitchen! Feel sad for the place and people who end up eating or ordering from this place. Being local, I have given them enough tries and benefit of doubt for one off days!! No more - had enough of their...
