I really enjoy eating out for breakfast and the this establishment has one issue that is very problematic for me when dining out particularly when I see hygiene issues with the staff.

Take for instance today. I was eating my food and was in sight of the cooks. The one cook remove his shoe and then took the insert out of it and proceed to tell everyone how much the inserts cost. He then placed it back into the shoe and put the shoe back on without washing his hands. It took every bit of control to not say something and to continue eating my meal. He was touching food directly and placing it on the grill and was eating scraps of food right from grill to fingers to mouth. It is downright disgusting. Fortunately, the other cook wears gloves and appears to be careful about hygiene.

The service is a hit and miss situation here. Sometimes the servers are friendly and sometimes they are not. I have found that when I eat there alone that it seems to be okay but when I eat there with my wife, who is Asian, it is a different attitude all together.

Jakes has been a Marlborough staple for many years and is an awesome little place. There is always a line on weekends, but it moves quickly and is worth the wait. It is hard to choose because everything is so good! The homemade (they have the canned stuff too so make sure you specify the homemade) corned beef hash is delicious. The omelette is huge and well done. Bacon is perfectly cooked and a value compared with similar places. Their waffles is what often brings me here though. The Cannoli Berry waffle is a thing of dreams! There are many waffle choices and you cannot go wrong with any of them. For the kids, there are Mickey and Minnie pancakes. If you are not a breakfast fan, fear not, there is plenty for you on the menu. The salads, yes! salads, are amazing here. I love the berry salad with boccochini mozzarella, pecans, chicken and mixed greens. The Autumn salad is yummy as well. The burgers are decent, chili hearty-just go and try, you will be pleased! Absolutely The Best Berry Steak Tip Salad I have ever had!!!Fresh field greens, tons of fresh raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, & blackberries throughout the entire salad! Whole pecans, grape tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese or, fresh mozzarella slices I prefer the balsamic dressing as it marries the flavors together! The specials are creative and endless! I always struggle with my selection as EVERYTHING LOOKS AMAZING! I had the opportunity to stop in for an early Friday lunch with a friend who had not yet been here. She was very impressed with her Steak tip Bruschetta Salad! The size of the succulent tips and salad is plenty for 3 additional meals!
