Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Marshall

(Updated Press Read More) This was the worst service me and my wife have ever received at any restaurant. Gabriel and Mackenzie provided ZERO service for us and that is their job. We got sat down. Had to beg for out utensils. We waited 15 minutes for just our drinks. Ordered our appetizers and entrees at the SAME time we ordered our drinks. We were ready from the start. 30 minutes pass and we finally get our appetizers. Over an hour passed and we never got our entrees. In that hour we had to get up and go to the bar area to ask gabriel and Mackenzie to just give us a refill. They were both just sitting there not even doing anything. Mackenzie finally comes to our table asking if we ever got the check and we NEVER even got our entrees. We told her to just cancel them and give us the check. Neither Gabriel or Mackenzie seemed to care about any of their actions and literally ignored us our whole visit. This was the worst service we have ever gotten. The fact we even had to pay for ANYTHING is unbelievable. If you are miserable at your job, that isn’t the customers fault. We shouldn’t be punished for your laziness or lack of care.

After speaking with the store manager Kelvi after the situation listed above. She made sure to apologize and reassure me that this wasn’t the image she wanted for her restaurant and wasn’t the experience she wanted for her guests. We waited months before returning to this location because of us being skeptical of how the customer service would even be. I want to highlight that we came back months later and the experience was soooo much better. Everyone was way nicer and actually seemed like they cared about their job/customer satisfaction. Fast forward. We come back again being today 01/13/2024. Our service was even BETTER. Ebony was the manager on shift and our server was Macayla. They both were exceptional with their service and did everything they could to provide the best service. Food was out quick, everything was taken care of without us even having to mention anything, tables were clean, food was great. It genuinely seemed like the atmosphere was upbeat and everyone wanted to be there and enjoyed their job. I was taking to Applebee's on February 14th and Valentine's Day for Valentine's Day dinner with my significant other. The hostess was very nice but this was one of the worst experience that I've ever experienced at any restaurant. Our server was Lateef. We ordered our drinks which took 30 minutes to come out. My sweetheart ordered a Double shot Makers Mark (Which was some watered down version of another liqour). The Manger Joel Raleato (I maybe spelling the last name wrong) can to the table to say he personally fix it. My sweetheart told him that that wasn't Makers Mark nor was it a double shot. When Jole returned to bring the drink it was finally the correct beverage. My order was the Bourbin Street Steak. His order was Shrimp N Parmesan Steak. The only side they has was all potatoes sides and broccoli. The server was informed that I am allergic to shrimp. But unfortunately, Bourbon Street steak had shrimps on top. Which it comes with onions and mushrooms and do not include shrimps. I inform the server whose name was Lateef that I'm allergic to shrimps again. We cut into the steaks which both were not cooked as we ordered. Lateef in turn went to go Jole. Joel attempted to try to convince me that my steak did include shrimps. I informed him that it did not. I had to show him the menu which he and I end up verbally going back and forth on the proper ingredients that supposed to be on the Bourbon Street steak. He was offense and very unprofessional which I told him. He in turn told me they would recook my food and I told him once again I'm allergic to shrimps. Lateef brought my salad out about 15 minutes later only to be told that they didn't have the vingarette dressing. 15 minutes later Lateef brought my steak but no side. I merely told him to cancel my order. My sweetheart steak was tough but he said hes not going to send it back because we will have a longer wait time. This was the WORST DINNER EVER. I wouldn't recommend anyone with any type of allergies...

Server was nice and restaurant was clean. However, the drinks from the bar were awful and bartender service was slow. We waited 10 minutes for one beer and mixed drink and the bartender was focused more on running around the restaurant talking to severs than doing her job. The drink came in the wrong glass and server apologized because the correct glasses were all dirty. Maybe they'd have clean glasses if the bartender would pay more attention to her post. We observed several people sit at the bar and get drinks as soon as she saw them yet we waited 10 more minutes for one drink after I asked for something different because the first drink was awful and that's putting it nicely. I told the server to still charge me for it because I tried to drink it but was only able to finish about a third of it before I couldn't take the awful after taste anymore..tasted like expired margarita mix and the drink was poorly mixed. 10 more minutes, second drink still has yet to be made but the bartender seems to be having a wonderful time at work while her customers are waiting for what they are paying for. I am a restaurant manager and my advice would be to coach your employees on the importance of customer satisfaction and keeping your eyes on your post. The bartender continued to walk around the restaurant socializing and finally the server told her AGAIN that I'd been waiting for quite a while..she finally made the second drink which would be the first one for me to drink and it was underwhelming at best. At this point I was ready to leave barely touched my food and only had ONE drink the entire time and we were there for an hour and a half..I don't blame the server at all she told the bartender twice she needed her drink. This will definitely be the last time I ever come to this location for dinner with my husband or for an after work drink. They weren't even busy so there's no reason it should've...
