Slacktide is conveniently located next to Levitate on Ocean St across the street from CVS. They offer small batch coffees, artisan teas, light bites like sandwiches and homemade baked goods. The food is good and oh my, the donuts are a nice treat! Not only is the food good but the owners are lovely people.. It is owned by best friends and brothers and their Mom and Dad used to do all the baking of the baked goods (I am told they supervise it now that their operations have grown quite significantly). The menu offers a range from healthy avocado toast on gluten-free bread, buffalo chickpea salad sandwich to decadent homemade peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich. It you have dietary restrictions like vegetarian, gluten-free, gluten-free and refined sugar free, they have many menu options like gluten-free bread, coconut milk, agave, etc. The staff gives off a nice family vibe. The space is cute; very small coffee shop/ artsy vibe. They got in a lot of traffic and staff is very busy so just note you might have to wipe down your own table in you choose to dine in as it is impossible for the small staff to keep up with orders and wipe down the tables but not a big deal. Love supporting local mom & pop businesses. The owners and staff are very warm and friendly and the food is very good. This is one of my favorite local spots and we are lucky to have one in Marshfield...
Read moreMy son, a barista in Providence, found Slacktide and recommended it as a "must go." My wife and I went. First note upon walking in the door: bright, clean and cool modern decor. Second, staff-managers were super welcoming, engaging and friendly. Third, they use a La Marzocco Linea professional line dual group espresso machine. No ordinary cafes use a La Marzocco, arguably the best espresso machines in the world, and 100% hand crafted in Florence Italy. Slacktide is extraordinary. Fourth, they perfectly roast their own beans...which are well balanced, rich and earthy. Not bitter or burned. Fifth, they do that La Marzocco espresso machine, and their customers, complete justice: espresso with rich crema, perfect froth on the milk, the correct espresso/milk proportions (~2 oz. espresso & 6 oz. milk, in accordance with Italian standards), and beautiful pour with nice but not gaudy latte art. Sixth, tasty selection of fresh croissants and morning nibbles. This is the best place around. Please go! You won't be disappointed. Wishing Slacktide all the best for continued success! Update: 4 years after my 5-Star review, this place is still 5 Stars in my book. Just amazing coffee, service, donuts, food, people. Unique. A true gem that stays true to the fundamentals of a great coffee and complementary food, inventiveness, creativity and...
Read moreWalking into the Hanover,MA Slacktide Shop on May 2nd 30 minutes before closing, I ordered two small hot coffees. When I tried to add milk or half and half, the containers were empty. When I bought the containers to the counter for refills, I was handed a gallon of milk and a container of half and half and the girl walked away. Then the coffee was luke warm. I asked to have it microwaved and there wasn't one. When I asked for a hot cup of coffee, I was told that that was the end of the pot and if I wanted a cappuccino with boiling water added I could have it. What??!! I said no thanks and sat with my friend to have my luke warm coffee. Then several minutes later I jumped when the server slammed two hot coffees onto our table and mumbled something and walked away. Unbelievably bad customer service and rudeness!!!! I will...
