Review of Kinders BBQ - Martinez, Center Ave
⭐☆☆☆☆
I recently had the misfortune of dashing from Kinders BBQ on Center Ave in Martinez, and I can honestly say it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I used to love this place; it was known for its quality, quantity, and flavor. However, it seems that those days are long gone.
Let’s start with the baked beans, which were a complete disaster. They were covered in what seemed like an attempt at cheese, but all it did was mask the fact that the beans were dry, hard, and utterly inedible. Who actually puts cheese on baked beans? To make matters worse, they were dominated by a metallic tasting canned tomatoes, leaving me questioning how this could even be served to customers.
Then there were the ribs. I expected tender, meaty goodness, but what I got was ribs with very little meat on them. The meat that was there was chewy and undercooked—definitely not what you want when you’re craving BBQ.
As for the chicken, it was a tiny, shriveled leg and thigh that looked like it had seen better days. To my absolute horror, there were places where it was raw. How can a restaurant serve something so undercooked? It’s beyond me.
After spending over $60, I ended up throwing my meal away. I can’t express enough how disappointing it is to see a restaurant that once set the standard for BBQ quality now languishing at the bottom of my list. It’s truly disheartening. I won’t be returning, and I would advise anyone considering dining here to think twice. Save your money and your appetite—Kinders BBQ has...
Read moreDear Mr. Kinders, I have lived in Martinez for my whole life. Used to love coming to kinders. But the last couple times I came the customer service was just NOT IT. We came right after the lunch rush so idk if they need more breaks afterwards so they aren’t so overwhelmed but something needs to happen. The girl that served us didn’t greet us, she rushed us to order and looked irritated that we didn’t know what we wanted quick enough. My husband ordered the ball tip and I ordered the protein bowl. From my understanding the ball tip usually comes warm/hot, this was cold deli meat. My husband of course ate it without a fuss because he’s non confrontational and he didn’t want me to bring it back up and crash out on her lack of customer service. We also are very good “tippers” and we left her a $0 tip because even while paying she didn’t say anything except “cash or card” my husband didn’t hear her ask so he pulled his card out and she said “okay I guess card then”. There is no need for such animosity over her speaking literally under her breath and expecting people to hear her. Don’t get me wrong, food is always tasty at kinders but maybe hiring people who actually like their job would be a better option....
Read moreI am a BIG fan of Kinder's. We have a group of friends who get together once in a while and make it an occasion to eat your famous ribs. Unfortunately today was not the case. I walked in and there were 3 customers aside from me, one was waiting for his order, a couple at the meat counter and a senior citizen who was very chatty with the employees. I got in line at the "place order" spot and waited... 10 min went by... about 6 to 7 employees bumping into each other, I am sure working on someone's order online. I made I contact with at least 4 and NOT a SINGLE ONE too one second to say: We'll be right with you or any sort of comment for me waiting. I gave up. I normally visit the Kinder's in Hercules, they have THE BEST by far customer service, very busy but always take the time to acknowledge the person waiting in line. Someone from Hercules should come over and show them how it's done, Its only the second time I visit the Martinez Kinder's but now it's 2 for 2. I rather go to another location. Too bad, it give Kinder's a...
