My wife and I had dinner tonight, their second day open. All in all a good experience. Chips and salsa were put on the table as soon as we were seated and our server, Bryan, came over right after to get our drink order. We started off with the Mixed Queso and this was the star of the show! Delicious queso blanco with seasoned ground beef and pico de gallo. Amazing!! Neither of us expected to like it as much as we did and even considered asking for another order of it to go. We also never ran out of chips because as soon as our basket got low, Bryan brought another basket over. My wife had the steak fajitas with flour tortillas and I had the tacos de carnitas. I asked for a side of limes and Bryan absolutely delivered! I usually have to basically beg at other Mexican places. Bryan brought me a whole plate full! My carnitas were good although a little on the tougher side, but my time living in San Antonio has spoiled me with authentic Mexican food. I asked if they had arroz con leche and unfortunately they do not offer it. I might suggest they consider adding it to the menu if not too burdensome. Soy guera pero yo se y me encanto comida Mexicana ;)
Atmosphere was nice, good lighting and music was a nice level that still allowed for comfortable conversation. The decor honors Mexican culture without stereotyping - refreshing for this area!
The owner? stopped by to check on us and make sure we were pleased with our server and food.
I definitely recommend this restaurant, especially over the other “Mexican food” restaurants in this area. My wife and I look forward to returning and wish this family...
Read moreOkay, here's an updated review that highlights the service at El Lobo Dorado: A Taste of Paradise at El Lobo Dorado! El Lobo Dorado is a true gem! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the service was just as outstanding as the food. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful dining experience. But the real star of the show is the incredible food. I recently had the pleasure of trying the Pina Loca, and it was an absolute showstopper. Served in a beautifully presented pineapple, the flavors were a delightful mix of sweet and savory – a truly unique and delicious dish! However, the Jose Burrito takes the crown for the best Mexican dish I've ever had. Every ingredient was so fresh and flavorful, perfectly combined to create a truly unforgettable culinary experience. The portion was generous, and each bite was a delight. If you're looking for authentic and exceptional Mexican food with fantastic service, look no further than El Lobo Dorado. The Pina Loca is a must-try for its novelty and deliciousness, and the Jose Burrito is simply perfection. I can't...
Read moreWe came in for fathers day with my parents. They wanted to sit us at two different tables, there were two open, clean tables just sitting there they could put together, the guy did not want to do it. He seemed so annoyed we would even ask him. we said we could do it and he said it's easier to sit you at different tables. It seemed he was bothered we were even there. The restaurant was pretty slow. Only a few people were there. We actually ended up leaving. I hate leaving bad reviews but I found it extremely unprofessional to have a waiter in there who won't even go out of his way to place 2 tables together. There were 4 adults and 3 kids. We weren't a party of 10+. The floors were very dirty as well. They were sticky and trash bits were everywhere. We arrived 20 minutes after they opened as well. I ordered take out from here prior and the food was okay. Nothing stood out. I'm just very disappointed. Hopefully they get...
