Located right on the downtown square, we chose Come N Git It for it's convenience and the high ratings. We were running errands with 3 kids and planning on getting a treat at the candy kitchen a few doors down from the restaurant after lunch. We ate a little before noon on a Tuesday, but it was not too busy and it was almost completely empty when we finished. I went ahead and gave 4 stars because the food was good and overall no issues with the meal. The cost per item is higher than you would expect of a diner like this, especially for lunch, which is why I took off a star.
Several of the workers were friendly, the older man and young waitress, but didn't get an overly friendly vibe from other staff. Hard to explain, but I almost felt like we were a hassle or that they didn't care for kids too much. Most diners were single diners or men, we were definitely the largest group and the only ones with kids so we felt a bit out of place. They had crayons at the counter to give kids for pictures, but I'm not sure why we didn't get any. Maybe it was an off day so I didn't deduct anything because of this.
The food came out quickly, was hot fresh and tasted very good. Portions for meals were also good. I only reduced a star because it was a bit pricey, especially for kids meals. I ordered a burger and the ribbon chips, which was very good and the burger was overflowing so much only 3/4 was on a bun but it came with a hefty price of over $9, add another $2+ if you want a drink and that's an expensive lunch for any person no matter how good it is (at least in my opinion). The kids meals were equally pricey, but thankfully included a drink for the price. I made a mistake and didn't check all the kids prices and let my daughter order kids chicken fingers..$8. Again, lots of food but just too expensive for a kid's meal. It's my mistake for not catching the price beforehand but I can assure you that it won't happen again. The kids burgers were also true slider size, which was actually fairly small compared to other meal sizes for the price, $5.49. My kids are still pretty small so this wasn't a problem for us but if you have extremely hungry or older kids, then you should order 2-3 sliders.
In the end, we will probably try this place again but I doubt I will come back with kids. Mine are still unpredictable, sometimes eating only a few bites or completely clearing plates and still hungry. I just can't justify paying the additional cost of $15-20 for 3 kids to a bill for something that they may not eat much of. I would recommend this place to eat out for a home cooked type...

I came for lunch and had the smothered chicken sandwich with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese. There was a side of fries too.
The sandwich came on a grilled bun. The chicken came as three strips. I had hoped as the name implied that the sandwich would be smothered with the above items, but to my disappointment the sandwich only had a few pepper slices and three mushrooms. Below the cheese were many onions though.
The sandwich was hot and fresh, but from the lack of toppings the cheese was the flavor hog, i guess a white american cheese.
The fries were a bit overcooked, and sparse. Some neighboring tables had what looked to be fresh cut/cooked potato chips. I had hopes the fries would be fresh cut too. The meal with drink and tax was just under 12.00.
The service was quick and friendly!
I would give this place another try they had a good selection of burger choices too, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWONDERFUL AS ALWAYS! If you want down home, old fashioned, home made food, this is the place! Jackie runs a tight ship with a loyal and hard working staff. Going out to eat is something I have grown to be very lukewarm about.... EXCEPT about Come-N-Git it! When a restaurant says homemade, I don't want gravy from a mix, and here everything is MADE FROM SCRATCH, including 25 gallons of gravy a day! There are no preformed beef patties, or fast and easy mixes used here. All the times I've been in, never saw anything that wasn't SPOTLESS clean, food is always great, service is tops, portions are always the same. If the costs goes up, portions and quality stay the same. Do you get the idea that this place is a...
