I’ve only been here once. My family and I drove four hours to Bloomington for the Service of Gratitude at IU in honor of my FatherInLaw. What an emotional day for everyone. Afterwards, we decided to get something to eat before heading back home since we were going different routes. We chose Indy’s because of the variety they offered. Service was above and beyond during our time. My nephew ordered French Onion Soup. The waitress came back and said they were out, so my nephew agreed to a salad. Then the waitress came back and said they’d make him soup. You don’t get that kind of service much, or at all, anymore. It was very much appreciated! We all had something different from the next, so the variety menu served its purpose. When I paid the bill, the first thing I noticed was all the testimonies and awards Indy’s received. It was clear as to why! I had a nice small talk with the lady that took my payment and time to head home. After a plate of the world’s best French fries and a day of emotions, I was over due for a nap, but had a 4 hour drive a head. 2.5 hours into my trip, I realized I left my wallet at Indy’s. I knew the restaurant was closed (that was part my of my conversation with the employee) so I called in the morning. The first employee I spoke with seemed very optimistic that I could get my wallet back. What a relief! Further into the day, it wasn’t as simple as sending my wallet back, but for understandable reasons. The owner did not want to be liable for it lost in transit. I respected him for that very much, but also very frustrated. Mario eventually agreed to mail it to me. We maintained contact throughout the whole process and he even asked me to let him know when I received it. To say I am grateful is an understatement! In a world when people are cruel and all for themselves, Mario showed me he’s not one in the same. He’s a man of his word, hard working, honest and loyal. While I can’t say much about the food and atmosphere after one visit, I will suggest this family restaurant to anyone and everyone that’s in the area based on Mario’s character. You’re truly one of a kind and so appreciated! Thank you for restoring my faith...
Read moreHad a great wonderful lunch today (7-5-19) with an 82yo lady friend. She ordered an Catfish sandwich special, and I had ordered an Farmer's Omelet, w/hash browns. If I can give it a 10 star, I would. Everything was superb. The waitress was very nice. She was nice enough to ask me if I want a choice of either home fries, or hash browns. I picked hash browns. She came out with home fries with my farmer's omelet!....lol. I told her right than there and she did remember asking me, and double check her ticket, and it said hash browns as she writing it. She went right into the kitchen to resolve the issue. Told me to keep the home fries. Gladly did, and it was season well. I was impressed. Was also surprised to see gravy on top of my omelet. It was also good. My 82yo lady friend had ordered a Catfish sandwich special. The look on her face speaks volume when she saw the Catfish sandwich. It was huge. She didn't give me a piece about 7 mins later, and it was still popping hot. Another impress. Waitress came out with my hash brown and admitted that the cook made an mistake. I smiled at her, and commented about how waitresses and any waiter if any, to check on the plate before bringing it out, as they r the last line of defense. ....lol. She just smiled. ..... My lady friend and I split on the chocolate brownie w/chocolate syrup and vanilla ice cream. It was heavenly, out of this world. Melts in ur mouth..........
Can't wait to go back, as my lady friend and I r from...
Read moreOur waitress seemed a little surly, not over the top grumpy, just like she couldn't care less. The French toast combo was supposed to be the typical thick bread that is common. What we received was a cinnamon roll type bread that is specifically offered as a stand alone French toast on the menu, our combo breakfast specifically said it would be the thick Texas toast type. It looked delicious to me, unfortunately it was for a 13 year old who doesn't like anything new or unusual. I had the skillet breakfast and was disappointed I've only had this at Bob Evan's before and this was served with what was obviously a square slice of cheese that appeared to have been an afterthought that was microwaved on top. The eggs were mixed with some cut up sausage patties. I expected crumbled sausage, not a pre cooked patty that was likely pre formed and frozen. This combination of egg and sausage was overcooked and in the shape a hamburger then laid onto of a pile of fried potatoes that were dry and tasteless. Coffee was good as were the pancakes, all this and the bill was $25 for two, for breakfast. You judge for yourself whether this is acceptable quality of food , service, and value. As for me, I won't hesitate to eat there again, but I will lower my expectations, and order something a little more simple like eggs, bacon...
