Adam's Grille & Taphouse - Edgewater — Restaurant in Maryland

Quite disappointing overall.

Ordered their cheeseburger & fries.

Meat was, like, over ground to a wet mealy mush that fell apart trying to eat.

No flavor.

Bun was stale and also fell apart. Halfway through I had to eat the thing with a fork and knife. Red onions were shaved paper thin and not crisp at all. One sad leaf of iceberg. Tomatoes were a bit past their expiration, mealy and odd sized & cut rings. ONE slice of American cheese (that cost an extra dollar). Everything was kind of laid on the side that I had to assemble which meant I had to lift the bun — dismantling the sorry single piece of cheese into sections Some sticking to the bun others to the meat. Leave the bun on the side if you’re doing an assemble your own affair.

The Fries were good. Thick. Crispy and fluffy inside.

The coleslaw was fine. Too finely ground for my taste but fine.

ATMOSPHERE Table was spotless and clean. A couple of loud drunks wandering around talking incoherently to random tables (thankfully not mine) kind of ruined things too.

OVERALL

If I’m expected to pay $18 for a burger, fries, slaw & a tea I expect much better than this. Even Arby’s has better burgers for half the price if I’m being honest. (I still tipped 20% as this was not a wait staff issue) I’ll never go back unless the owner responds here and says they agree these things were not right and will make corrections in the back of the house. I’m not holding my breath though. A place this old typically lose their way, have no inspiration. They get their regulars and stay afloat.

I came in here during the day before a few years ago and it was great but we came in there the other night and when I sat down basically the entire time I heard employees trash talking about other employees. Some of them were very mean to the other employees and it made me not want to eat here. I've seen the general manager there make some of the girls cry I could only imagine what goes on here when customers aren't around. When I got my food someone else carried it out but they kept yelling at the girl waiting on me and she kept throwing it in the other waitresses face. The short older lady that's a bit on the heavy side was incredibly rude. I dont think I ever want to come back here. I had a much better experience a few years ago when I came in for lunch and the bartender took care of me. She was running everything by herself while the waiter who was a heavier guy was sick stayed outside smoking the entire time. She was my favorite does she still work there? If I go back it's going to be during lunch when that girl Mary is there. Mary gave the best service she was doing everything! She was making drinks, serving food, serving the entire restaurant herself with no help, seating people, running carryout, taking catering orders, answering phones, running keno, handling money. I saw nobody help her at all. She was even lifting heavy boxes and buckets while the manager sat at the bar drinking,saw her struggle but wouldn't help her, he needs to make improvements that manager...

My family and I no longer go here after a series of major mishaps. I ordered a sweet potato with brown sugar/butter mix they have. It came out and I took a bite and realized it was a type of nut (I’m allergic). The waiter kept telling me it was just brown sugar in clumps- but I was already having a reaction starting. Finally the manager went and talked to the cook who “mixed up” the brown sugar and nuts because they were next to each other on the shelf... SERIOUSLY? So they comped my meal- and I left and went to the hospital. A few weeks later we thought we’d give it another shot. Poor service, drinks not refilled, parts of order wrong etc. we have it over a month and thought things would have changed. Nope. I ordered the half chicken and it came out freezing cold. I mean, not just me cutting into it and it being slightly chilly, but it had clearly come out of the fridge and then warmed slightly in the outside for a brief amount of time before being served. The waiter took about 20-ish minutes before coming to check on us, after we’d been flagging him down and even asking other waiters to please get him. He said “well, I can’t really warm it because you’ve cut it up”... how does that make sense?? Don’t y’all have a microwave? Put it in foil in an oven or on a grill? Needless to say we now go elsewhere.

The one star is for the excellent sweet...
