There's a reason this restaurant has a low review rating. Trust the reviews. I decided to give it a chance to despite the reviews, I was staying in the hotel and didn't want to go out in the cold and rain. The decor and atmosphere inside is great. It's smaller than I anticipated but it has a bar with TVs to watch sports. I was sat immediately and served chips and salsa. The chips are well seasoned and the salsa was flavorful so I was excited for the entrƩe expecting it to be just as good. My server seemed irritated with me that I didn't want any alcoholic drinks (it was 7PM on a Tuesday night) and I don't drink anyway. He kept repeating that they were known for their tequila and trying to show me all the options after I said repeatedly I just wanted water. My first interaction with my server I already knew what I wanted to order (skillet tacos with steak and chicken) so I placed my order. Once I placed my order, I didn't see or hear from my server for the rest of my dining experience until I had to flag him down for the bill. A different server brought my food out and asked if it looked correct, I said yes. The rice and beans were flavorful, the chicken was good, the corn tortillas were bland and dry. I prefer flour tortillas. My steak however was so over well done I couldn't even bite it or chew. I wanted to see if my server could have the steak re-done but he never stopped by my table. I watched him as he went to the tables next to me on either side and across the room repeatedly serving their alcoholic drinks and food, checking if the food tasted good, replacing their food or drinks they didn't like, but never stopped back at my table. I did not eat the steak nor tortillas, but finished the rest of my food. I pushed all my plates to side of the table and sat for a good 15 minutes waiting for someone to help me. Someone bussing tables grabbed my plates and cleared my table so I proceeded to wait another 10 minutes with no food, no drink, just waiting for the bill. The server and I literally locked eyes as he was leaving the table next to me and he still proceeded to walk right past me without a WORD or offer to assist. I had to stop him and say excuse me, can I have my bill please? He said oh yeah sure. I got my bill, left 15% tip, and went on my way. I would not return here again because of my experience. I noticed on many other reviews people agreed that the food is sub par. There are some things that are good, but the quality is not consistent across the menu. And, I ended up very sick that night within a few hours after eating. I would NOT recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped in randomly on the way to drop a friend at BWI. So glad we came! First the cocktails: we had the Mezcal Mule and Pom Margarita - each ingredient scales just right, not over, not lacking, so tasty and so pretty. Food: we started with the freshly in-house baked and seasoned with some spice chips and their salsa. Very fresh, super delish - the salsa is NOT like the Picante jar salsa you get served at some places, it tasted cooked to order and not recycled, the chips are the thin and crust kind that you canāt stop eating! The guacamole, man oh man, this guacamole is making it for my Top 2. Whoever flavored the avocado, keep doing what you are doing and adding the tomato and onion AND radish garnish on top, STELLAR. The guac was melting in my mouth. My friend had the Birria tacos and I had the Baja Fish tacos. She said her tacos were good. My fish tacos were Tip Top, the chipotle sauce swirled on top paired perfectly with the breaded fish and slaw on the taco, tipped it over the edge too with a side of sour cream. Delectable. Even the side of black beans and rice was flavor max. Someoneās Abuela might be in the back putting her foot in this food, the taste and flavor was notches above most average tasting Mexican you get nowadays. I hate that I forgot our servers name, he was so warm and friendly, very down to earth and knew the menu very well to suggest comparisons. He made us feel taken care of. Iāll come back to edit. Anejos is doing their big thing,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBe prepared to wait 20+ minutes for bar drinks, and 20+ minutes for chip and salsa refills. The drinks and food are overpriced for the servings they provide. The food comes out fairly quickly, but be prepared to send it back bc itāll be like warm or cold. Be prepared to ask for straws and napkins and never receive them and have to get them yourself from the bar. Be prepared to wait 30 minutes for a cup of ice bc they will give you room temp tap water. And donāt you dare go to celebrate with friends or family and there be more than 5 of you in a group, because they wonāt disclose that you cannot do separate checks and will force you to put everything on up to 2 cards. They wonāt mention the inability to split checks or the automatic 18% gratuity until the end when itās time to pay when you didnāt receive 18% gratuity type SERVICE. Our table felt neglected and disrespected by one of the servers there (not ours, ours was pretty nice but was obviously overwhelmed when the place is 1/2 the size of the average restaurant and seemed fully staffed). Poor management.
Be prepared for SALTY guacamole. Be prepared for UNDERCOOKED rice. Be prepared for BLAND beans. The ONLY good part about the experience overall were the street corn, plantain, and enchiladas. Those items were pretty yummy. But certainly not worth another visit due to the chaotic, unprofessional and inconsiderate experience me and...
