One of my favorite places. I'm only giving this place 5 stars on service because of the Phillipino waitress. She knows the menu and is very attentive. She checks on all of her customers regularly. If you receive service from anyone else, it will be below average or horrible in comparison. You will either wait a long time for refills, or have no opportunity to order desserts due to the long time in-between check-ups. My company goes there every Monday. We always get the Phillipino waitress because we request her. She has the perfect waitress personality, and you can tell she loves her job. The rest approach you like soul-less zombies, they don't pay attention, bring you the wrong items, don't know the menue, I could go on for hours with everything they do wrong. The good news is they finally got ride on the one waitress who just spends your entire lunch time on tiktok. Now of they would just get the other 3 up to speed. With the Phillipino, my meals are around $40 to $50 because she understands English very well and gives me the opportunity to order extra stuff, desserts and etc. If we are ever stuck with bad waitresses, I just order the basic. $12 item... knowing after the first round of drinks and soup/salad that I probably won't see them again until it's time to go. Maybe management will see this and do something about it. I'm a customer, I shouldn't have to explain what a chirashi bowl...

I RARELY complain about my Restaurant Experiences , however It would be unjust to my family and friend ( her birthday celebration ) if I not share my Horrific experience today . Our soup, salad, appetizers, drinks and the chef all came out at the same time!!! As we attempting to enjoy our salad the chef pushed the main course on our plates , the waitress ( part owner ) came to our table to retrieve our soup in the middle of our attempting to enjoy the appetizers and salads. I asked for a fork and was first refused to be given one until I had to get abit assertive about it. I addressed both managers (owners of the restaurant) and they became very defensive . The rice was not cooked thoroughly. I asked the chef to please keep my rice and meat on the side until I finished my salad , when I finished the rice was still undercooked and my meat had dried . When discussing the situation with management I was consistently interrupted. Unbelievable rude and extremely extremely poor service. I were offer a 20 dollar gift card , which again I found insulting . Won’t mention the confusion about the Sushi portions .....

I came here one time before with a few of my friends and had a great experience. I came back today with 30 minutes left to closing so I thought I would be considerate and ask if they have a to go menu the employee told me that they don’t have a to go menu and that I would have to go online. I’m standing right there and I don’t know how hard it would be to hand me a menu rather it’s a to go menu or a restaurant menu. I left extremely upset because they gave me the impression that they didn’t want my business. I will be sharing this experience with family, friends, and all of my clientele. The sad thing about this was I live almost 30 minutes away and was truly looking forward to the food and it’s even more sad that I actually referred one of my client to go to asahi instead of the other sushi’s place in town. Unfortunately I will not return again and definitely very disappointed. In case you’re wondering I only wanted sashimi which would not require any...

I have been eating at this restaurant since I was in the 3rd grade! I remember attending here for a field trip during our Japanese history unit in Social Studies class. I have made this my go-to spot for birthdays, holidays, graduations, and promotions. It is one of my favorite spots to eat in St. Mary's County and probably always will be. In my most recent visits, I hadn't seen the one waitress in a long time, but she would memorize my little family. The hibachi grill can't be quite the show, but I often just get the table to avoid waiting for more people to join the group. Being in the military, I have traveled around the world and tried a lot of "yum yum"sauce... but there is none quite like the one served here. Thank you, Asahi, for all of the great food memories you have provided me!

We just moved to the area and this was the second hibachi place we tried. I definitely liked this one more. The food was a lot more flavorful. It had a couple downsides for the night though. It could be that it was just because it was busy, but only time will tell. My husband and another guest at the table ordered sushi. We had already consumed 90% of our hibachi meal and were ready for boxes before their sushi came out. Drink refills took forever. Seems they had our waitress running between the grill and several other non-grill tables. She just couldn’t keep up. We’ll be back!
