What a maddening experience. I tried to resolve this in person and on the phone but no luck.
As part of our online order we asked for Shrimp Lo Mein with the shrimp on the side for our daughter. Sounds like an odd ask but my wife is allergic to shrimp but likes to eat our daughter’s leftover lo mein so we get the shrimp on the side.
The restaurant called us after the order was placed and asked us to clarify the shrimp on the side. I explained the above and thought it was resolved when the person on the phone agreed to some steamed shrimp on the side.
They called back minutes later stating the chef said he couldn’t put the shrimp on the side which made no sense to us. After asking why they couldn’t do it we finally got frustrated and said fine we will just take vegetable lo mein instead. Still do not understand why the shrimp couldn’t be on the side when other restaurants do that for us.
When I picked up the order I asked if they credited our card for the difference between the veggie lo mein and shrimp lo mein since we didn’t get the shrimp. While the difference was minor I felt it was the right thing to do. The staff explained that we would not be getting a refund because it was similar to ordering a dish and asking for something to not be included (ie no onion). Again, this made no sense since they gave us veggie lo mein which is on the menu. I asked for clarification and was told we would not be getting a refund and would be charged for shrimp lo mein with no shrimp. Again, maddening after I told him on the phone we would just take the veggie lo mein.
I even called later and asked to speak to a manager to try and resolve the refund issue and was ultimately told there are no changes to online orders. Again, maddening when we didn’t even get what we ordered on line.
Part of this is on principle because it makes ZERO sense why they couldn’t put the shrimp on the side. It’s just wrong though to not refund the difference or even offer a credit.
The food is good so not critiquing that but the service and how this was handled was remarkably poor. Not sure we will order or...
Read moreI have been in some good Chinese restaurants and some terrible ones. The worst being discovering one place will take leftovers and serve them to someone else. Or the ones where they wait on you heavily but if you don’t whip out a tip before you stand up you get yelled at loudly. I was about to lay out $15 because my friend’s children were not well behaved at all. I was over-tipping . After my being screamed at and attempting to embarrass me I let the waiter know that I had the tip in hand but put it away after that disgusting display. I’ve eaten some of Wegmans Chinese & last time I tried a piece of sesame chicken while shopping and it was rock hard. So I gave it to the cashier. It’s very expensive to boot. I am looking forward to going to The Bamboo Garden because I am craving good orange chicken (will settle for sesame) I’ve never been, never knew the restaurant was right across the street from my house. I have read Every Review and it’s Mo accident that many people praise the place and repeat customers really tell me I’m in for a wonderful meal. I hope they have Plum sauce for my spring rolls. I’m on a limited income and rarely splurge for food from restaurants. I will be there just as soon as my check hits my bank account. Unfortunately Someone I just met that lives below me drove me to the bank and witnessed me using my ATM card then proceeded to steal it and the little bit of cash I keep . That was after I loaned her $30.00 she was fast and practically did it in front of my face! It Hurt! It Still Hurts. Not only did she take Every Penny I incurred fees when some overdrawn payments hit the bank. Almost doubling what was taken along with my piece of mind. They are dumpster divers and My balcony is right above her patio. I filed charges but so far she evaded the police tying to serve her . Took her apt letter off her door. They sneak out the patio and park behind the building. But I cannot wait for some excellent food Mr. Keven. Pictures of the place are...
Read moreWaited a good amount of time for just waters. We werent sure who our server were because we had about 4 people take care of us. The lettuce and tomatoes that were used as garnish on my seaweed salad looked old and lettuce had a black bruised look, tomatoes werent firm. Sent back and mgr was arguing with me on 2 separate occasions telling me the lettuce comes like that! They did take it off my bill. I also ordered the tempura shrimp roll, which was dry and tasted oily, tough to chew and bland. Im very certain the chef did not make the tempura fresh because it tasted freezer burnt. It was also served cold ,which if u fry up shrimp it should be a bit warm, am i right?! I also ordered the shrimp lo mein ,it was bland the portion was the same as lunch special ,which was very disappointing because i paid more for the same item just because it was a bit after 3pm when the lunch special ends. My server never asked how the food was ,or refilled my daughters ice tea promptly. We kept having to ask for more. Also, when he took our order i wasnt done ordering i had to quickly order in between the other 2 people i was with, i felt rushed . Staff definitly needs customer service training. Manager should never justify to a costumer old food is fresh.Just because you cut some lettuce up doesnt make your food FRESH. The server never came back to take our check and money and we waited a while for anyone to come by until finally the hostess came over and took care of us.Again poor costumer service. Also, i didnt feel good after i had left and went to patients first. After my results were in they said i got...
