To start my review I'd like to comment on the service. The Manager handled our delivery order- he was very polite. Moments after placing my order I received two phone calls; one asking what type of pasta I wanted with my entree and another asking what dressing I would like with my side salad. No problem. Our food arrived in 40 minutes time as the manager had informed us. The food arrived pleasantly hot. I ordered the chicken piccata for $12.95 (Tender Chicken breast sautéed with Capers in a silky White Wine, Lemon Butter Sauce) and it was a very large portion. Great, right?! Unfortunately not. The pasta was cooked to perfection but the sauce was where this dish fell flat. Two-noted; salty and lemony. If that's your thing this is the dish for you, I was lured in and disappointed by the "silky white wine and lemon butter sauce." This leaves the "Tender chicken breast"...tender was missed by about 5 minutes of cooking, it was tough and very dry. All of this dish (save ten bites or so) were wasted in the trash bin. I liked the capers but then again I like them on their own. On to the second meal in the order; a $15.95 calzone for my husband and (toddler) son to share. Like most calzones, this thing was monumental in size. It was mostly full of ricotta and then some ingredients my husband ordered. My son wanted nothing to do with it (fortunately for him). My husband, on the other hand, finished off the 3/4 that was his share. Within two minutes he was in the bathroom with diarrhea and nausea. I hesitated calling to complain because I normally just chalk it up to acquired tastes...but this time my husband got sick...and my son would have if he had eaten any of the calzone. I talked to a gentlemen and explained what had happened and he courteously apologized and informed the manager. I spoke to the manager and explained to him the situation, he politely told me that my husband should go to the ER and that nothing was wrong with the food they provided because he made the calzone himself. He repeated numerous times that the ingredients were fresh and that he had made it himself so there couldn't have been anything that was his fault. I replied with thank you and then we ended our conversation. I would have liked to have had a refund, considering the food, as well as our money, was wasted... but I settled with writing a negative review and decided not to order from here in the future. Was a shame, they had me at lemon butter sauce...
Read moreSadly, this was the most underwhelming food I have ever had. My dogs food has more flavor than these people have brain cells to use salt on anything they have. I ordered an eggplant parm sub and a salad and my friend ordered the hamburger sub and wings. To be honest their wings are tasty. Good amount of sauce and properly cooked. However, the eggplant looked like ground beef and tasted like a mozzarella stick. The salad tasted pre-made. It was extremely cold as if it was refrigerated, almost frozen, they included the root of the lettuce, which is the one part you DO NOT serve because it, if not washed properly, can have loads of dirt in it, which it did, and tasted gritty and nasty, which it did. What was worse is that I called them to see if I could get a refund, because for their rating I was expecting good freaking food, and even though I got a courteous person on the phone they refused to do so unless I return brought the food back. Truely, disappointing. I can say they will not be receiving my service EVER AGAIN. I am new to the area and was expecting something greater based on their reviews. I guess I'll be reading the reviews next time. They should too. They'll learn a lot. Best of luck to y'all hope it...
Read moreBrookside is a hidden gem in Owings Mills. As a student at Stevenson University, which is around 3-4 minutes away from Brookside, I've had numerous things there including a couple different subs and calamari. However, my favorite combination there has been the fresh mozzarella pizza and the caprese salad. First, that large pie is HUGE! Good enough to fill me for one night and then to have available for leftovers the next day. Fresh mozz pizza is worth it all. Love the amount of sauce on there and the melted mozzarella slices on top. Their caprese salad is REALLY good. Big slices of fresh tomato and mozzarella leaves, and the basil is always fresh and crispy. Right amout of EVOO drizzle and a touch of salt and pepper add more flavor. It's an overally really good caprese salad, one of the best in the area. Brookside has some of the best products and food that a pizzeria could offer in the Owings Mills area. Looking forward to more visits and...
