I buy crabs from Jim's crab house often. I have always been very pleased and preferentially buy crabs from there due to previous quality. To my surprise, I got a bad batch of crabs. I ordered large crabs for 6/19 and picked them up at 7 pm. I was told there was a special and I would be getting another dozen free. So when they were bad, I was very surprised. I called the next day and spoke to a young lady and told her I would not be able to get the crabs back to her until 6/21 but I would leave them in my refrigerator. I went to Jims on the afternoon of 6/21 to return the crabs. The young girl behind the counter, who I recognized from before, was defensive and got the crab steamer person from the back to speak to me. The young man was immediately also defensive, opened the bag pulled out a crab and said they were "fine". I told him they were not fine and smelled fishy with dry mustard. He told me that they catch crabs with fish and so they smell fishy ! I told him to try a crab if he thought they were ok but he told me he doesn't eat crabs !!! He kept insisting the crabs were fine. I then said "so you are calling me a liar?" He did not respond and I was so upset I just left. All I wanted was my money back and maybe a small apology. Instead, I was met with disrespect and major attitude. I will NEVER buy crabs from them again and warning to all...
   Read moreDisappointed I even have to post this. Been following this place since before they bought their first shop on Carroll Island. Just after the beginning of the season, had the Carroll Island location sell me ice cold crabs. I'm never late to pick my crabs up. Spoke with the owners son who apologized and insisted that he would look into it and get back to me..... that never happened. Being a FAITHFUL (and frequent) customer, I figured it was a one time thing and brushed it off as no big deal. Today, same issue. No steam in the bag.... not 1 hot crab.... I'd settle for warm or room temperature.... no, these crabs were COLD. I reach out to the owner AGAIN who goes on the defensive and made it seem like it was my fault. I was there to pick up crabs 5 minutes before my pickup time. While I can appreciate you defending your employees and your business, please appreciate that i know the difference between crabs reheated and sat in a bag and crabs fresh from the pot. Take some responsibility for what happened. Your customers keep your business going. Will be going elsewhere from now on and that's solely based on the condensending tone and disrespect shown to me...
   Read moreThe 4th of july was my first time ordering from Captain. Jim's. The staff were so friendly even though they looked like they were hot and worked very hard that day. I thought to myself, what good spirited people!
I was driving there(10 minutes away) when I called in my order. Everything in my area had closed already (last minute me)! When I called, it was to see if they too had closed, but thank heavens they were open and still cooking! A very nice lady answered the phone with awesome customer service! She answered questions and even told me of the corn they sell! And to think I was about to go home and cook corn!đ I said yes, I'll have those also!
When I got there my half bushel of crab and the corn I order were almost ready! As a sat there I realized I should have ordered more corn as to utilize the special they had on the menu...the lady had already thought of this and added 4 more ears to my order of 20! Amazing! Oh, and the crabs were very good and the corn needed nothing added to it. Very good experience here! I will be a regular...
