China 88 — Restaurant in Maryland

This place is absolutely AWFUL. Avoid this restaurant. Not because the food is bad. The food isn't bad.

They're just not consistently open for business. That's the problem. I think this restaurant is more of a hobby for the owner and his wife. It's not uncommon to try to grab food from here and walk up to a sign on the door.

They close for weeks at a time. Several times per year.

The absolute worst part of my experience with this restaurant and I've tried 4 times in total (not including today.....) is that they will NOT prepare your order for pick up. I've tried. Take it from me, they will NOT prepare your food, or even begin to prepare your food if you attempt to call ahead for pick up. To have your food be ready at a certain time, by calling ahead.

3 out of my 4 times purchasing food from this restaurant, were attempts to call ahead. I work 2 jobs. Raise kids. We're all BUSY these days.

They will not begin to prepare your order until you show up at the restaurant.

That's the real problem. All in all, I just don't understand what the owners of this place are doing. Horrible experience every single time.

Food is pretty good, with decent prices when you consider the fact that you'd have to drive some distance to get something similar. Now, the reason I've docked two stars... I've ordered three times over the phone for carryout and each time it's taken significantly longer than estimated over the phone. The first two times I was told it would be 20 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later, and both times I waited at the restaurant about 20-25 minutes for my order to be ready. The third time I was told 30 minutes, arrived at the restaurant 30 minutes later, and waited with a crowd at the restaurant for another 30 minutes before my order was ready. Service was horrible waited over an hour and a half.. paid 63 dollars for 3 meals just to get home to find they forgot 2 of the rices ( one was fried rice which they up charge for) the other was white, I called the store and the lady was literally arguing with me that they did not forget it- she said we have camera we check we not forget.. I simply wanted my card refunded for the forgot items she said I can only do cash I don’t know how to put back on card.. I was not driving back from Hagerstown.
