Don's Seafood & Chophouse — Restaurant in Maryland

Took my mother in law here on a Sunday as we have wanted to try it for awhile. We frequent the ice cream shop next door and Dons always looked appealing. Wow what a disappointment. Service was terrible and waited 15 minutes for a waitress to even come by and acknowledge us. It’s a small place and she had to walk past us multiple times but always looked extremely rushed. We finally asked someone at the front counter who obviously saw we were waiting (our table was within eyesight by the front window). The waitress blamed the kitchen and claimed another table was creating issues. Jeez ok already off to a bad start here. The menu brags about using Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce for their ribs as if that’s a sign of quality. I ordered the shrimp and ribs and it was barely seasoned and very generic. My mother in law ordered one of the salads which at first sight looks impressive due to the size. In actuality it’s just some toppings on top and a giant bowl of iceberg lettuce underneath. None of the food was noteworthy and for the price I would hope it would have been a bit more impressive. Neighboring tables made up of older couples seemed to also have frustrations with service and incorrect orders being served. I’ll stick with the ice cream...

We had a great lunch at Don's. Think this is my forth visit to Don's. Crab Fries appetizer is a meal in itself. 3 of us shared them and barely were able to finish. Crispy hot fries, lightly seasoned with Old Bay topped with a generous portion of crab cheese dip. Also had the Crab Flat bread, outstanding! Ice cold Burley Oaks brews on tap. (I'm a stickler for COLD tap beer. Don's keep the tap beer icy cold) Also recommend the Fried Rockfish ... very good as is the Seafood Dream. The seafood Dream looks as if it's a rather small portion, but, it was PLENTY. Nice large size scallops and shrimp, delicious! I REALLY like that they source with local businesses. Helps to keep the area vibrant.

Staff is excellent. Friendly and attentive. Highly recommend Don's Seafood...

Only gave a star because I had to in order to review. Everything was amazing from the time my family of 12 came in right up until it was time for desert. At this point our waitress (who mind you was amazing the entire time until now) came out of the bathroom and promptly started nodding out almost falling into my grandmother! I mean full on squatting ready to hit the ground couldn't stay awake long enough to take our dessert order. YOU COULDN'T WAIT 30 MORE MINUTES LADY??? I mean seriously come on. You have no idea how you affected me and my family that night. The food was good the service was amazing until this happened and it completely ruined an amazing dinner. If addiction is part of your story and an event like this could be a trigger for you...
