Went for my wife's bday because she wanted crabs. They had crabs but the whole set up is hokey. You walk in and order like a McDonald's sort of except when you're paying they give you the options for a tip that starts at 25%. Does that make sense? You prepay the tip? Everything from there is pretty much self serve...they give you styrofoam cups for drinks or point you to the bar in which you have another payment for the drinks (that appear to be all pre-mixed) come in 8 oz plastic cups. Then you stop by the accessories table to pick up your plastic forks and knives. And then you seat yourself and the stuff you ordered comes out one by one. You never seen any staff to refill drinks or see how things are...just the cook when he brings out the food. (What's the tip for?) So we ordered a calamari starter, a fried fish platter with old Bay chips for me, one kid got a cheese steak with hush puppies, wife and daughter split a dozen mediums with corn on cob on the side.... altogether, not including tip $105ish. Calimari came out first and was ok, but they were all super small and probably out of a bag. Next came the fried fish platter: fried clam strips, three butterfly shrimp and a piece of fried fish. The clam strips must have been from the tail end of the bag because they were clam crumbs. The shrimp were so over battered that if you didn't see the description on the menu you wouldn't have known shrimp was in there. Can't remember the type of fish but it was battered and fried with the skin on...so you peeled the skin off and the fish fell apart. Don't even bother with the chips... I'm guessing they're literally Utz ridges chips with a sprinkle of old Bay. The crabs came out while the whole family was working on my fish platter and they were ok but either not fresh or over cooked as a lot of the meat was black. Overall, besides the cocktail sauce, they were the best thing. The cocktail sauce was the best thing. At this point the cook came out and asked if we had everything...he didn't even know what we ordered and paid for. Had to remind him about the cheese steak, hush puppies and corn. Sometime later he brought the sandwich and hush puppies. .meat was flavorless, bread was dry. Hush puppies were uneventful. Never did get the corn. If you're going to spend $100+ dollars on dinner you can do way better than this place. As an alternative, would recommend trying Crabtowne near Glen Burnie...similar fare but better imo. Won't go here again.

The food here is pretty good. However their service was VERY poor today. My crab cake came out without cocktail sauce. When I went to the counter to ask for it, I was actively drinking (they have self serve drinks). The worker asked me to put a mask on. I told him I was drinking and just needed the sauce, but he asked me to return to my seat and said he would bring it out to me (instead of just handing it to me). Not a problem, so I turned to walk back to my seat. As I was leaving, the employee made a smart mouth comment under his breath. I turned and said excuse me. He then told me that he was just telling me their rules. I had already agreed to their rules when I was returning to my seat, so he was just being a punk. I asked to speak to a manager. He told me he was the manager. I asked for the owners information then which he refused to give me. I told him to forget the cocktail sauce and just left. This was about a $25 lunch. There is better service at Burger King for significantly less money....and far better service at a Chick Fil A. Regardless to how this manager felt, his customer service was very poor. His refusal to give me the owner's information so I could inform them only made the situation worse. I seriously doubt a restaurant owner would not want to know when there is a customer service issue. The current rules for Maryland restaurants are very clear. If someone is actively eating or drinking they are not expected to have a mask as it is impossible. Furthermore there are exceptions for people with disabilities which this "manager" has no way of knowing as well....even more of a reason not to talk under his breath. This was not a situation that I even wanted to be out of my seat, I wanted the food out correctly and would have not had to get up at all. I don't have a problem wearing a mask while waiting in line (as I did when I ordered) or getting up to use the restroom, however I do have a problem with it if I am actively eating or drinking....as would almost anyone. I understand these guidelines have been very hard on restaurants, but the way this was handled shows this "manager" is clueless about the state rules as well as customer service.

What I thought was worth the drive . Turned out to be not worth the trip . My mom 78th birthday wanted seafood. Of course me requesting fat boys crab shack . That way we can sit outside . My mom have been unable to climb stairs . We got there , I wouldn’t say it was crowded. I placed the order around 2:40pm . I placed five orders . Food and drinks around $150. Never ever have a issue with payment. My issue was the wait time and the fact the manager nor the gentleman that I was told was the owner . I directly spoke to him . He then stated telling me how he drove bout two hours to help cook . Not once was I told , it was one cook for the entire restaurant. If I was told the wait would be over a hour , I could’ve went to the other one down the street , that I passed up to sit outside at the shack . The manager could care less bout customers not being informed before they paid, not concerned bout customers waiting for over a hour for fried food . The lady manager with the long hair , busy yelling at the young guys working there . They having conversations amongst their selves and not delivering customers food . Waited so long that by the time we got the food order by order. It’s 4pm now cloudy and rain drops . I MUST SAY THE ONLY COOK NAME WAS AMARI , HE WAS DOING THE BEST HE COULD . I expressed to him that my frustration was not with him at all . Even though my two orders of shrimp was over cooked .

I'm giving this place a 2 and being extremely generous. The crab cake was great, but that's not hard to find in the Maryland area we have great crab cakes everywhere. The RESTAURANT IS DIRTY and the STAFF IS EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. My friends and I arrived at 10:30 pm, none of us had been here before, the restaurant closes at 12am. We proceeded to sit in a booth as another customer told us it was self seating. After sitting in the booth for 15 minutes or more without any acknowledgement from any staff to start our order I walked over to the bartender to ask how do we get service, both bartenders were pleasant, they explained that we had to order at the front and then take a number they would bring us the food. This is different but cool, no problem. We ordered from the front as instructed. We decided to sit in another area because the first booth was just not clean at all and just nasty. After assessing 5 other areas to sit we pick the least of the dirty. We waited a while for our food, it all came out at different times as we decided to order separately. It's now about 11:20 we are finally eating and have ordered our drinks from the bar, which you have to do separately and walk to the bar each time you want another drink. As we are enjoying conversation and eating our food, a manager comes over around 11:40-11:45pm to tell us that they were closing at 12am, she doesn't wait for a response she just walks away. My friends and I are confused at this point, we are only in the middle of our meals, are we suppose to rush? What was the reason for this announcement? 12:00 comes and some of us were still eating, another employee comes over and says we are closed. One of my friends expressed that she wasn't done eating, the employee rudely says take it to go. At this point the entire restaurant smells of floor cleaner as the staff is mopping the floors around the remaining customers, it was about 20 or more customers still in the restaurant. Not to cause any problem with the staff my friend, and a few others asked for to go boxes. I guzzled my last drink from the bar. Then another staff member comes over, its 12:03 am and says can you start to head that way(pointing to the door) as she proceeds to mop right next to our feet. My bill alone was over $100 for just me and then there were my friends who spent the same some more because they had mixed drinks and more expensive meals than I did. This was just plain out rude!!!! I have never been treated that way in a restaurant. Not allowed to finish the food I ordered and then my feet actually mopped by a staff member. I will never go here again and I will make sure no one I know goes here. I have purchased crabs from Fat Boys original location for years and was excited to try this new location. This is experience was extremely disappointing. FAT BOYS DOES NOT APPRECIATE THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL. SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH AN ESTABLISHMENT THAT VALUES YOU. THERE ARE GREAT CRAB CAKES AND SEAFOOD ON EVERY CORNER HERE IN MARYLAND WE DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE THIS TYPE...

I am not sure if Fat Boys in Crofton, Maryland is under new management, but I didn't receive the same level of service I have received in the times I have been prior to Sunday, September 10th, 2023.

My daughter ordered the Fried Fish Tacos. She broke off a small piece of the fish and determined it did not taste fresh to her saying “It is very fishy tasting and not in a good way.” When the server came to check on how we were enjoying our food, we informed him that my daughter didn’t like the fish tacos and that we’d like to send them back. The server said he would have to check with the manager. About 3 minutes later, the server returned saying that we weren’t able to send the tacos back. We asked to see the Manager. The Manager came out, we explained the situation and the manager proceeded to argue with us and adamantly said he cannot refund nor exchange. The reasons cited were the following:

"We do not refund." "I get fresh fish everyday and there is no possible way that there was one bad piece of fish in the batch. Because if one piece was bad, they all were bad and that he sells hundreds of them a day with no complaints but ours." To which my sister said, “So if one human is bad, does that mean that all humans are bad?” His response was he doesn’t speak English well enough to understand that analogy.” "That he is running a business can't afford to allow customers to send food back because it is waste." "The Fried Fish Tacos are some of his best sellers. Everyone who orders them loves them. But there is something wrong with THIS one that you received?" "Just because she doesn't like them doesn't mean that I should make her something different. She didn’t even touch them" (I had to point out where she broke a piece of the fish off to taste it)

Upon refuting all of the reasons the Manager "said" he could NOT exchange or refund her order; he told us he grew frustrated and rebutted with he didn't understand English. They did exchange her order for a burger at the same price point. We got the order to-go. We left shortly after receiving the to-go order. As we were walking out of the door, we crossed paths with the Manager, he did not apologize for the bad food, nor did he even consider asking us to come back! He doesn't have to worry about me patronizing his business again and I will tell all of my friends to follow suit. I refuse to pay for bad customer service and to be treated like...
