Gato Tacos — Restaurant in Maryland

Decided to finally stop in today and give a few things a try. I’ve been admiring the theme of the truck ever since I saw it. While sitting in the parking lot waiting for it to open I saw we had a 50/50 chance on liking it based on reviews. I try to form my own opinions though. Overall, I’d give this another shot if they take this as positive criticism and consider adjustments.

Tacos: 3 carnitas - bone dry and lacking flavor. These tacos were screaming for some moisture and flavor. I even tried squeezing a lime on it from my sonic drink and it didn’t help. I think they could use a quick dip in the juices they cooked in and perhaps a small cup of salsa. I also wish it had more cheese.

1 shrimp - husband said it was decent. Lots of cheese!

1 carnita quesadilla - lacks flavor/dry.

Pancit combo: I ordered the large pancit/lumpia combo because I haven’t had any in so long! I think this by far was the best thing I tried from the truck. I was even slightly tempted to order another for later. The only thing that kept me from buying another was portion size...

I actually moved away this month and I had to (in good conscience) leave a review. I got a cali burrito during the work rush and was left speechless. Basically a block of cheese. I peeped through the truck window and saw a teenager going ham with a store-bought bag of cheddar. I got a cold brick to eat in the middle of a pretty stressful day lmao.

To make matters worse, my coworker was one of the souls affected by the illness other reviews mention. I’ll be visiting the area frequently and hope to see this truck doing better. I root for all local businesses in the county, but can’t with that kind of experience. Haunted me enough to...

How are you gonna sell a California Burrito and only put meat and fries in a burrito? I've been disappointed by this food truck twice with the California Burrito. It had more fries than meat in it and lacked guac and sour cream. I get you're trying to make Mexican food out here on the east coast but try to do better. Coming from Texas and after being SoCal for years, this one of the worst Mexican food joints...
