I've been to this location twice. The fish has always been good, but the mac n cheese was less than desirable. The "mac n cheese" was a bowl of buttered noodles with a sprinkle of cheese. Now, aside from the mac n cheese, my review is really about the staff. The 1st time I went, the staff were yelling and cursing at each other back and forth from the register and the pick up/kitchen window. I mean b*tch, sh*t, F this F that, F you and cursing at people on the phone. In addition to that, the woman working the register was taking a personal phone call about a missing order from a shoe company. On the 2nd visit, same thing. The employees' foul language was highly unprofessional.  I have noticed that the owners were not present each time this has happened.  As a matter of fact, on Monday, one of the owners arrived shortly after I received my food and I noticed the attitude (and language) changed upon her presence.  Now I do realize words slip sometimes, but to have a whole conversation with "B" this and "F" that is more than I want to hear.   This type of behavior is unacceptable especially when customers are present anywhere in the facility. Between the atmosphere of this location and the hit and miss food items, that's enough to deter customers elsewhere.

This is a $20 meal. No joke. 2 stars is being generous. 8 piece shrimp with two sides. OVER PRICED. The macaroni and cheese tasted a lil better than Kraft brand. I realized that ain't saying much, but it's the truth. Couldn't taste any cheese. That right there almost made me take a covid test. The fries were soggy and had nothing to them. No salt. Just basic boring krinkle cut frozen fries. I had to add my own old bay seasoning, pathetic. I was miss ing one shrimp, but the 7 shrimps were okay. BUT just okay, this was not worth the price of admission. The atmosphere was lacking , walls could use paint. The upholstery was either torn or cracked. but on the bright side service was decent, my order was promised in 10min. Got it in 9. Highly disappointed, considering I was recommended to this place by more than one person. Just go somewheres else, trust me.

Decided to stop on Father’s Day and get fish. Purchased the meal they posted as a jumbo fish dinner with 2 sides at $17.49. First, the fish was not jumbo and was fried or refried too hard. The sides, collards were tasteless and the potato salad was horrible. I use to go to the one that was in DC, so much better. It appears that quality no longer matters just quantity ( how much money you make). I have posted a picture of the meal I had to toss in the trash because was not fit to eat. I am also surprised that people want tips for ringing you up at the register. How is that a courtesy when you can’t get a smile from the person. Things have really changed and not for the better. Oh yeah, I won’t be back!

Fresh, Flavorful Seafood & Friendly Vibes at Horace & Dickies Seafood – Camp Springs, MD

If you’re in the mood for seriously good seafood with a down-to-earth, welcoming vibe, Horace & Dickies Seafood in Camp Springs, MD is my go-to spot. It’s the kind of place where you feel at home the moment you step in, and you leave with a satisfied smile and a bag full of tasty finds.

What makes it stand out Bold, seafood-forward flavors: The menu nails that classic seaside flavor—crispy fried items, perfectly seasoned catches, and flavorful sides that complement every bite. Fresh ingredients and generous portions: The seafood feels fresh, the sides hit the right balance, and portions are hearty enough to satisfy a big appetite or to share with friends and family. Friendly, attentive service: The staff are consistently warm and helpful, offering recommendations, accommodating special requests, and making sure your order is just right. Casual, neighborhood feel: The dining space is comfortable and unpretentious, ideal for a quick lunch, family dinner, or a relaxed meal with friends after a long day. Great value: You get solid quality and generous servings at reasonable prices, which keeps me coming back for more.

Signature picks I love Fried seafood combos and seafood boils with a side of classic sides like fries or coleslaw. Grilled or blackened fish options for a lighter yet flavorful choice. The seafood platters for a shareable feast that’s perfect for groups.

Ambience and experience Relaxed, family-friendly vibe: It’s easy to settle in, enjoy good conversation, and savor each bite without feeling rushed. Quick, satisfying meals: Ideal for a busy weeknight or a laid-back weekend lunch with friends or family.

Practical tips Check daily specials or family-style options for extra value. Consider sharing a platter to sample a few different flavors without overdoing it. Bring a hearty appetite—portions are generous, and leftovers make for a tasty next-day meal. If you’re dining with kids, they’ll appreciate the straightforward menu and approachable atmosphere.

Bottom line Horace & Dickies Seafood in Camp Springs, MD is a dependable go-to for fresh seafood, generous portions, and a welcoming, no-fuss dining experience. It’s perfect for family dinners, casual meetups with friends, or a satisfying solo seafood craving. Highly recommended for anyone who loves bold flavors, good value, and a relaxed,...

OMG! Terrible! If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. Where do I start? OK, I'm a seafood lover and especially fried whiting fish. Horace & Dickies USED TO BE the place to go for some good fish. Now? SMH... not so! This particular location is a carryout being made out to be a place where you can actually sit down and eat. The problem is, the tables crowd out the space and leave little room for people to order their food and go. The line will fill in, in between the tables, and who wants someone's butt up in their face while they're trying to eat?

One of the first things I notice when I come in, is a wall saturated with the Horace & Dickies family. OK I get it, but uhm... the walls shouldn't be a shrine of that much pride to the point where nobody sees your restaurant name or better yet, the MENU. Where do we order? We do we sit? There is little direction as to what to do when you walk in besides stare at the portraits on the walls.

I heard "Next in line please!" I look to my left and there's a cashier sitting in front of the bar. OK glad I found her. I place my order and stand, then step aside to let others by. The cooks look unhappy like they'd rather be pushing a mop at a Target and when I ask if the bags of food on the counter are mine, I get a mean mug face shout, "NOT YET I'll let you know." Finally, the order comes and when we get home and eat the food, MEH' it wasn't all of that. I would love to have my $30 back. I would've bought my own fish, fried it, and not have to worry about getting if a cook was going to jump the counter and choke me out.

Overall, go someplace else or...

Well! Went there yesterday, Friday (Yes - Good Friday) March 29th and it was terrible with long lines and the cashier wasn't the most friendliness person on staff. There were ants on the counter, and I said to her "there's an ant" - her response was NOT Nice, and it was "it's Spring please it just an ant, they'll clean it in a minute. I should have walked out like the person behind me that heard that terrible response! I along with many others waited 45 minutes to one hour and I came out smelling like fish. The 4 to 5 guys were cooking, and trying to keep up with the tickets, the guy that was prepping the food was in his own world listening to loud inappropriate music that I guess helping him not to be court up in the madness around him, because the guys started mixing up tickets and calling random numbers out. The staff needs a training day and learn that it's great to serve the community with kindness and efficient service in a clean environment which they need an overhaul. Clearly, I will not be visiting them again.

What I did notice upon speaking with others that many people were complaining but still waiting like me on the food. I will not complain and be a party of this unprofessional, unclean place. They need a deep cleaning in the entire area because it's dirty! Just take a good look especially where they have the cakes and the floor....
