The biggest problem with Kenny's is that they try to be too much and cover too many genres of food. If they narrowed their focus to just one type of food and learned to do it well, both they and their customers would benefit. As it is they try to do Chinese, Subs, hamburgers, fried fish, and a smattering of other stuff and do all of it rather poorly.
Subs are mediocre at best. They don't make their own bread, and use a squishy white bread type of roll that has no flavor or texture. They tend to ignore special requests as to condiments and additional toppings, so I hope you like mayonnaise on your Italian cold cut because you're going to get it even if you ask for it to be omitted. Hot Subs of any sort tend to arrive lukewarm and in need of a quick microwaving, and are unexceptional in quality.
Chinese food is typical Americanized Chinese. If you're looking for anything remotely authentic, different, or unusually tasty, there are far better places in the area to look for it. If what you're looking for is good old-fashioned greasy comfort food, Kenny's will meet your requirements nicely.
Oddly enough, the best meal I've gotten from Kenny's was one of their fried fish and chips samplers. The fish was fried just right, light and crispy, seasoned well, and even the french fries arrived hot and crispy. Unfortunately, this seems to be a quirk. The next time that I ordered the same dish I got slabs of fish that were still raw in the center and flabby fries which tasted of fish. It seems like they hadn't cleaned the oil in the fryer very recently.
I've seen a lot of reviews here complaining about the staff being rude. I've never experienced that. A couple of them over the years have seemed to be a bit challenged by the English language, but rudeness never entered into the equation. Competence in the kitchen, unfortunately, very much does. There are simply too many better places to get Chinese food, Subs, and fish and chips to spend your time and money ordering from someone that doesn't do any of the three very well. Unless you're getting late night eats and everybody else is closed. in which case, quality is probably not your...

Read moreI’ve been to Kenny’s sub shop plenty of times and tried few things on the menu, but this particular review is for the wings and fries which is my number one go to staple.
The one thing I can say is when I get the wings and fries is that the food is always hot and it’s sad to mention something like temperature of food dealing with restaurants nowadays. I understand they get overwhelmed with orders or y’all try hard to accommodate everyone, but the temperature of the food being how it should be when I first get my food shouldn’t be the first thing I talk about, but it’s one thing I appreciate; which is HOT food.
With that being said, the the wings never disappointed me because they’re a nice size, good portion for 4 wings, and overall are very good flavor and they are juicy. The fries are also cooked to my liking. I know some people may like their fries in particular way, but when I get my fries from Kenny’s, they’re usually done in the way that I like them; hot, kind of crispy, crunchy and kind of mushy (yes I said that, but this is how I like them so to each its own). They also have salt and pepper on them too which is great.
The only thing stopping is review from being five stars is the mumbo sauce (ITS GOOD) BUT I know different carryouts around the DMV do they mumbo sauce how they do them, but Kenny’s could use a little bit more thickness consistency because it is rather loose … but other than that, I don’t mind it 😊
P. S. I also got a frozen half-and-half that I didn’t show in this picture, (that joint was like that!!) but I’ll upload that next time when I take a...
