Summary; Make sure you have your cards priced out ahead of time before trading with these people, they will offer you the lowest priced sales on tcg while selling their cards at the highest priced sales, hypocritical! They will also dance around how much they are willing to give you for your trade. They said they were going to give me 60% for IN STORE CREDIT, but doing the math myself they were giving me 50% for cards that were over $20.
Long version; I came by to trade in some mtg cards, literally the second time I've ever stepped into this shop. The first time I came by was on a Sunday, I asked about trade-ins. The guy at the front was super aggressive and he said we don't do cash trades on Sundays. I tried to ask some questions about price ranges for cards. He got mad and basically said Iâm not gonna help you if you are not going to trade for store credit, no problem dude. I left and came back another day because another dude at the front was nice and answered some of my questions while the other guy was being an aggressive individual. Came by on Tuesday, but for some reason there were still no trades for cash. Some big event everyone was preparing for was âtoo busyâ to do cash trades. Okay I give up, i'll trade for in store credit.
I was working with a new person this time. They had me look through binders/boxes for any cards I would want for a good half hour. This was before they started to price out my cards, this is relevant later. Then the guy then spends 30 minutes pricing out my cards. I had a fair stack but no more than 30 cards, he did it all on his phone, probably would help your employees if they had a work computer to search up prices, just a suggestion. While he was searching up the card prices he was pricing them out on a mat he was setting my cards out around 50% he was starting with the cheaper ones. So I asked him if the trade was at 50%, he said yes for the dollar(s) cards but for the higher end and higher requested cards he would give me a 10% to 20% bump, up to 70% for IN STORE CREDIT. That sounded good to me so I let him continue.
I priced out my own cards before I came in, not only did he shave a few dollars off of my most expensive cards, he only offered me 50% of the cards worth. I stood there doing the math in my head, I asked about my cards that were being priced at 50%, a 90 dollar and 40 dollar card, he offered me $45 and $20 bucks. I asked about the bump he promised earlier because they were high valued and highly requested cards. He only offered to bring the 20 dollar card up to $24 bucks. I stood there thinking about it because I thought I was mistaken in my math because I was just doing it in my head. In the end I could not accept the trade in good faith because I felt I was being low balled for my entire stack of cards.
I told the guy I'm sorry but I can't accept this trade. I'm willing to buy the cards I picked out with cash instead. Suddenly the guy became cold and got really upset. The aggressive individual I met on Sunday started to chime in and was saying I committed a âtabooâ. I can't come into a shop and not trade my cards once theyâve been priced out. I'm like what nonsense is that, I don't work here but I would assume pricing out cards is in your job description, and I would assume you're paid by the hour, so you're not losing any money buddy. I came into the shop with the full intention to trade if I was offered a fair deal, you did the math. I didn't like your math, we both lost 30 minutes. I actually lost an hour because you made me pick out all the cards I wanted while y'all just sat there doing nothing, while claiming to be âso busyâ. Literally the second time iâve ever stepped foot in this shop, i'm not a repeat customer who brings in hundreds of cards to be priced to only leave in the end. I shouldnât have been treated so harshly for not wanting to go through with a trade I didn't feel was fair on my end. Not how you gain more customers, I wonât be coming back so you don't have to worry about having any of your precious time being wasted by me...
Read moreThis breaks my heart to post, but I was literally telling a person as I was walking into the store and talking about how accepting and inclusive Dice City is, and then.... A Dice City employee named Luke, without asking my name or offering his own, confronted me, stood suuuper close to me, refusing to take a step back when I asked him for space, interrupting my productive convo with another paying customer. He told me I had to leave because he said I'm not allowed to be in the store even though I am a long and loyal customer and both owners have my number yet never mentioned in my previous 3 visits last week that I was not allowed in the store. Further, owners have over $1000 worth of my cards, which I asked them to appraise. And the employee seems to think I 'assaulted him 3 years ago, which is weird, one because i've never met, nor have I touched this guy before, and this employee never filed assault charges because he's a fragile white moderate that has feelings he doesn't know how to deal when people like me who don't conform to decorum and civility, gender roles-- but I'm just projecting with a pretty educated guess.
If you are different, have a disability, are LGBTQIA, or struggle with you mental health, you are 'rolling the dice' while patronizing this...
Read moreThis was one of the best experiences Iâve ever had at any LGS. I had never been to Dice City, but decided to stop in to take a look at some Pokemon singles. From the moment I walked in, I was promptly greeted by Daniel. He asked me what I was looking for and he got me squared away. I was told what they had in terms of Pokemon and was given several binders to look through. I asked Daniel quite a few questions about the store (selling cards, events, tips for new players to magic, etc) and he was extremely helpful. Anything that I wanted to look at, he immediately helped me find it. The other staff there also seemed extremely nice as well. Even though I went for Pokemon, they have a lot of other cards as well (primarily Magic, I believe). They also have a ton of vintage video games and consoles. Very cool store with great pricing. I will definitely be coming on a regular basis now. Not just because of the great selection and the great pricing, but because of how well I was treated here and how welcomed I felt here. I have no problem with spending my money here. Please consider checking out Dice City Games if youâre around the area. Thank you Dice City staff for...
