I expected a sit in restaurant with servers but it's a place where you look at the big menu on the wall, order at the counter, you're given a number for you're table, and your food is brought to you when it's ready. You fill your own drinks at the station too. None of which is bad but it's worth a mention so you know the type of experience it is. I didn't take any pictures but the inside is nice in my opinion. It still felt like a sit in restaurant outside of how you order your food and get your drink.
We went since 1 person in our group loved the BBQ chicken pizza from here but I got the pesto chicken sandwich and mac&cheese. The pesto sauce was good but the rest of the ingredients were kind of flavorless in my opinion. It was regular Italian bread(I think) not toasted (or since the pesto sauce was applied onto the bread the sauce may have hidden it), raw peppers, I had a few bites where I tasted garlic or onion but it wasn't evenly applied so it wasn't in every bite, and the chicken was bland but at least it wasn't dry. The mac&cheese was weird because when I took my first bite I thought it was good but the more I ate it, the less it tasted good... I ate about half there and half when I got home and "medicated" but even "medicated it wasn't that good to me.
I liked everything else about the place. Even the bathroom smelled nice and was clean. There was a little stain(that looked like it doesnt come out) on the base of the metal piece of the toilet where you flush but you can still see and smell how clean the bathroom actually is. Also when I asked for a to go container the employees were extremely kind and asked questions to figure out what containers and sizes were best for me. They also wore facemask and gloves the whole time they were visible. Even the guy clearing the tables.
In conclusion, look at the menu and see if there's anything you really want to try. Maybe I just chose the wrong items for my taste. Maybe I should have just gotten a pizza too. You will be spending around $15 per order so decide for yourself if you want...
Read moreNewk's is one of my top favorite places to eat! The mac and cheese is out of this world, as are the pizzas. The sandwiches are top notch too.
The mac and cheese is as close to my homemade mac and cheese as anything I've tasted at a restaurant. Better than steakhouse restaurant mac and cheese dishes. (To give you an idea, I'm comparing it to my favorite mac and cheese recipes from Cooks Illustrated and The Pioneer Woman.)
For the pizzas, my family makes our own often, Newk's rivals homemade pizza as well. The pizza crust has a brick-oven crunch/substance with a great flavor. It has just the right amount of substance so the pizza isn't floppy. My favorite is the pepperoni pizza. My sister-in-law raved about the veggie pizza. They must use a combination of cheeses, make their own tomato sauce, etc. The thinly sliced tomatoes and chopped basil on top make it even better. Their pizzas are a must-try.
My husband loves the roast beef sandwich. Originally, I got hooked on Newk's because of their turkey sandwiches, but I have to eat the pizza every time I go now. Their sandwich bread is similar to french bread, has a great flavor, not bland like Subway or Quiznos. Everyone we have taken to Newk's loves it. Last night, I bought a cup of the Zesty Black Bean soup to eat for lunch the next day, am eating it now and it tastes like homemade too, really good. I can tell they use fresh ingredients in their dishes.
In sum, if you haven't been to Newk's, you must go! I thought it would essentially be another Panera, but to explain the comparison, I can reference the Williams sisters, the professional tennis players. Panera is Venus (has seven Grand Sam titles, impressive!) and Newk's is Serena (she has twenty-one Grand Slam titles,...
Read moreFirst time customer, I was unfamiliar with the restaurant or what food they serve. This location is in between a bank and another chain restaurant. I was greeted at the door by Beth. She was very polite and pleasant. She introduced me to their menu and the different styles of sandwiches, salads, and soups they offer. I'd assume this is a direct competitor of Panera Bead chains. The food is fresh here and made directly in front of you. The specialize in a "Choose Two" style option. Mix and match selections of turkey avacado, ham club, chicken salad, or veggie farmers market sandwiches. They serve fresh fruit and in house produced six layer cakes. This particular visit, I chose a turkey sandwich and mixed salad from their "choose two" menu selection. Beth was patient, very kind, and accommodating. While waiting on my food I managed to walk around the service kitchen to note they have a large seating area for parties larger than two people. I would go back for lunch to try other items. I only gave a 4 star because the front of the ordering area is very cluttered with items that appear to be for free condiments. It's a little too close to the exit doors and appears a bit unsanitary. I'd like this to be placed a little closer to the inside. Maybe the owner should consider some relocating for...
