Yesterday February 29,2024 i ordered pizza from papa Johnâs around 3:30ish pm. The pizza was delivered to my house. My husband was home to receive the pizza. My husband called me asking me did i put a tip on the bill. I told him no because i thought he had cash. So he asked me what can we do because the delivery guy was right there. I said well next time we will better organize the tipping situation. So the papa Johnâs delivery guy said well someone needs to give me a tip. I said excuse me? Tipping is optional. He said no itâs not itâs mandatory. He also told me he has been doing this job for over 10 years and we have to tip. I explained to him we paid delivery fee and if we felt the need to tip itâs totally on us. He then said donât order for delivery if i donât have money to tip. So by now Iâm a little frustrated that he would say something so rude to me. I order from papa Johnâs so many times and Iâve never been talked to like that. I hung up the phone and called the store for a manager immediately. I explained to her what happened. She seem a little busy so she was rushing me off the phone and just apologized and told me she would give me 50 percent off my next order. To be honest i was not satisfied with that response. The way the driver was very aggressive towards me and demanding a tip i feel she should have had him call and apologize to us. I came to pick up my online order and a very polite girl named ** (it should be noted that I included her name in the email, but I'm not going to do that to her on a public forum) took my payment and informed me my food wasn't ready. Okay, no problem. I paid cash, and she returned the correct change. I then watched as she headed to the prep area, which is in plain view, and began preparing dough without washing her hands. For the duration of my wait I witnessed her sneeze not once, not even twice but three times into the open air. She didn't even attempt to use her shoulder or arm to cover her mouth. Assuming to myself that it could not get worse than this, I watched in disbelief as she went back to the walk-in to retrieve fruit toppings for the pizza station and returned to the prep area and once again began spinning without even washing her hands. It should be mentioned that there were four other male employees including one who was off to the left hand side at a computer in plainclothes who didn't even look up The entire time I was there. Papa John's pizza may taste great, but the customer service at this location is the absolute pits. I called to make an order, but before I could the assistant manager on duty puts me on hold--for almost 10 minutes!--to answer another call (or make pizzas, as she later declared). Either way, the long hold frustrated me, and I asked her why I was on hold for that long. Then she got an attitude with me and hung up on me. I went to the store to speak to her general manager (who wasn't there), but the rude manager told me she hung up on me because I was being rude to her by raising my voice. I give her credit; she's gifted in the art of winning arguments by saying absurd things.
The bottom line, I've never experienced someone who was that rude even when unprovoked. I was hoping she was having a bad day, but she told me she wasn't...so that's WHO SHE IS! Also, she did not seem at all fazed that I would contact her manager. I wonder what their definition of customer service is.
