Worst pupusas I had ever had. I can only give it a one star for rating purposes but I wish I could give it a negative rating. I order pupusas for 3 people. Six (6) beans and cheese four (4) cheese and zucchini and one revuelta.
The 6 beans and cheese were not mixed together the cheese was in one size and the beans in the other side. Some of the pupusas had only beans and the other side was corn flower. A thick corn flower side. The revueltas (beans, pork and beans) were not mix either they had the cheese on one of the flat sides and on the opposite the half bean half pork. The beans side of each of them were burned or dried.
I called to complain and the girl told me that that’s how they are made. What??? I’m Mexican (and love a good pupusa) but my wife is Salvadorian so I know how a pupusas is made. The girl told me they would make them again but would not give me my money back. Why would I go get fresh pupusas if they make them this way??
DON’T dine here. Stay away. Bad service (if the customer is not satisfied then their motto is ‘too bad’). Bad food.
I’m enclosing picture. You can see the clunks of beans. The light side thick...

I went to this restaurant with my family, mom and grandma to celebrate. We’ve been there multiple times. Our server (Elida B.) was very rude and absent the entire time. Almost as if she didn’t wanna serve us or even work that day. 2 dishes never arrived and she was missing a lot of add ons that come with the entree’s. My seafood soup had bad meat in it, it was very obvious they put old meat from the freezer and rushed it. All around bad experience, enough for me to never go again. I always go and it’s a different waitress with better food experience and I tip 30-40%....
Read moreIf you're looking for delicious pupusas, Pupuseria La Familiar is not the place to go. The pupusas here are a disgrace to the dish's traditional recipe. The masa is too thick and hard, making it difficult to chew and leaving a pasty feeling in your mouth. The filling is also mediocre at best, lacking flavor and depth.
To make matters worse, the curtido is plain and unappetizing. It lacks the tangy and acidic flavor that is characteristic of this pickled cabbage slaw. Additionally, the salsa is watery and flavorless, adding no value to the already disappointing pupusas.
Overall, Pupuseria La Familiar fails to deliver on the quality and taste of their pupusas. The thick and hard masa, lackluster filling, plain curtido, and watery salsa make for an unappetizing meal that is not worth the visit. If you're looking for authentic and delicious pupusas, you're better off trying...
