Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Maryland

I recently visited a Rita's location that was an utter disappointment and, frankly, a disservice to the brand’s reputation. From start to finish, my experience was frustrating and unpleasant, and it’s clear that this location falls far short of the standards I’ve come to expect from Rita's.

First and foremost, the staff here were astonishingly unprofessional. When I arrived at the window to place my order, they exhibited a shocking lack of courtesy and efficiency. Their attitude was dismissive, and they seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than providing decent service. It was apparent that customer satisfaction was not a priority for them.

To make matters worse, I was subjected to an incredibly rude and uncalled-for comment about my attire. I was wearing pajamas, which I admit might not be the most conventional choice for an outing, but it was hardly anyone’s business. Instead of focusing on my order, one of the employees felt it was appropriate to mock my outfit, which was both unprofessional and deeply disrespectful. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and does nothing but degrade the customer experience.

Overall, this Rita's location is a far cry from the quality and service I associate with the brand. The combination of poor service, a lack of professionalism, and unnecessary insults made for a thoroughly disappointing visit. I order 10 6-packs of cookies from the here, and the manager or whomever ever it was decided to only give me 10 cookies instead of the 60 I had ordered. He explained to me that he only had an order of 10 which was a BIG lie (Doordash delivery driver had the 60 in the order as well, he deceived the driver and told he he had given him the 60. He said he only received $40 for the cookies. They sell their 6 pack of cookies for $16. Meaning by that logic I would have received 15 cookies not 10. Not only did he not fulfill the order he lied and stole a customer's money. This place is full of theirs. Never ever will I order from den of thieves. This is probably the 10th time I’ve come to this ice cream shop. The ice cream is great. that’s not the problem. The issue is the same employee who always attends us. He’s consistently rude and seems upset every time we go.

At first, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe he was having a bad day. But after 10 visits, it’s clear this is just how he treats people. This time, he was even unpleasant toward my son, and my husband had to talk to me about it afterward because it really bothered us.
