Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Maryland

Rita's is excellent. They have many flavor options daily that include several sugar-free ice flavors. The unfortunate thing is that it usually melts before you can finish it. When I spoke with the person serving us, she offered a second larger cup to help with the mess and serve as some extra insulation. This was very helpful for my kids and my sanity. Because of this, I left a tip, which brings me to my final thoughts. A place like this should not be asking for tips. The employees should be paid at least minimum wage. Tipped employees make less than minimum wage, which is why you tip at full service...

My wife of Greek dissent (Olive Tan Skin) approached the window yesterday with my son and his 3 friends and Immediately was told “you must wear a mask or I can’t serve you” My wife went back to the car got her mask ordered her stuff and went back to the car to eat it. Immediately afterwards 6 Separate customers without masks placed their orders and left with no problem. My wife got out of the car and approached the window to asked why these customers were not required to wear a mask and we’re served without a problem and the manager stood there dumbfounded...

I occasionally splurge because I love that custard (the taste of r6eal ice cream from my youth) but I hate paying MORE for a carefully weighed cone than for a half-gallon of Turkey Hill, Breyers or Friendly's ice cream! One little cone costs nearly $5.00 and the afore-mentioned half gallons are usually on sale for around $2.50 or less and Turkey Hill Homemade Vanilla is very, very, very close to the taste of Rita's custard. Rita's is still the gold standard but those with unrefined taste buds (like kids for example) wouldn't know...
