Rocky's New York Pizza — Restaurant in Maryland

Ok, before I begin, I want everyone to know that up until today, I would have easily given this store 4 stars (can't give 5 because delivery can take longer than an hour most times). Been going to Rockies since 1987. I now live in a different state, whenever I come & visit my kids, first thing I do...get a Rockies Sub. Both my Daughter's families get food from Rockies on a weekly basis. But no more!!! I placed a large order with this store earlier today & had it picked up. Unfortunately, when we took a bite of our subs, something was different. They just did not taste right, which was agreed upon by all members of my family. I called this store and asked if they had made any changes to the 'recipe'. I was told no. So, I became concerned and decided to return the food to the store. There, I was confronted by, I guess the Manager ( I say, I guess, because the guy was just an unshaven slob ) who gave me a 'do not care' attitude straight off without even saying a word. I explained what was wrong, he basically ignored me but did offer me my money back. I explained that my concern was to find out what was wrong. Could it make us ill? Once again, he didn't care and we ended up getting into a very heated argument. I left with money back on half of my order, which I spent at Rockies on Potomac street to replace my subs. Surprisingly, I DO NOT WRITE REVIEWS, but I felt strongly that I needed to let others know that this guy does not care if you get sick, because he refuses to at least look into it. Sad, they r going to lose a lot of business...

There hours are until 10 pm. I was next door at laundromat and wanted a couple slices at 9:45. I walking up to the door and 2 Hispanic employees were walking out door appeared to be locking. I asked you closing? They replied yes. I said it's not 10. They started saying how when it not busy they leave early they don't waste there time. I responded to to ouy see should be open until the time you say. He commented more disrespectful rubbish and I responded back. Next thing he went into car got a metal baseball bat cherging across the parking lot ready to attack me. I spoke to two higher up employees and they pretty much blew it off. They have what appears to be gang hoodlums as employees and don't care how they represent there establishment. I will never patronize them again and suggest you don't either. There employee took a baseball bat and was coming at me threating me I am mid 50s he was mid 20s. Acting like...

I read the reviews and really wanted to check it out for myself.

When you walk in the door, you get that old world pizzeria smell and the aged interior that tells you they've been here for a long time. That's actually a good thing!

I decided to eat in and go with the basic pepperoni, mushroom and onion pizza. The pizza was served on a large metal pan, piping hot out of the oven. The sauce had a really nice fresh tomato flavor. The mozzarella cheese was buttery and stringy. The pepperoni was nice and thin, with slightly crisp edges, the way I like it. The crust was the only thing that didn't earn high grades. It was just okay. It was a bit dense and chewy which wasn't awful, it was more that I have had better tasting pizza at a couple other Hagerstown pizza restaurants.

So I'd give Rockys a solid 4 out of five which isn't bad at all... just third place on my Hagerstown favorite...
