We've been going here since it opened. A friendly neighborhood restaurant that is very busy and thankfully made it through covid. Although you can drop in, I say reservations are recommended. This place gets really busy, especially with happy hours and weekends. I've seen many a large table getting served as people go for office, birthday and anniversary celebrations. The dress is casual and there are tables and booths. The small bar area is popular. The service has always been excellent.
Until covid, the food was great. During covid it was good but not great. We did takeout at least once a week, and I also dined in. However, my husband went back recently and dined in and said the food was back to being excellent. The one weakness is the basic Margherita. They are just OK. Get the Gold, one step up, and they're much better.
They start you with decent salsa and delicate warm tortilla chips that are so good. The guac is excellent and worth the price of getting a separate order.
I frequently get the shrimp fajitas. Big shrimp with lots of flavor and perfectly cooked. The steak fajitas are good, too, but order medium rare. This allows for a more tender steak as the strips are thin, so you don't get them overcooked (IMHO). I also really like the Salmon with Capers which has a wonderful delicate sauce (ask for extra) and served with rice, a small potato and a piece of broccoli. Such a nice dish.
A friend gets the seafood platter they have, possibly called Mariscos Saltado. Also popular in our family are the enchiladas ...whether cheese, shredded beef or chicken.
Usually there's no room for dessert but I did have the fried ice cream once, which was shared by the table. The coating was more chewy than crisp lime others I've tried. Still, 4 of us...
Read moreWe have lived in the area but had never tried this place before. It’s cinco de Mayo so we were looking for margaritas and decided to try this place. While my fiancé and daughter were waiting for me to arrive, my fiancé was hit on the head with a tray by a waiter. The impact was hard enough to make him slam his head against the wall behind him. We then were seated outside. 20 minutes goes by and everyone who was seated after us was able to give their drink orders to the waitress, I had to wave a waitress down to ask if we had one. The waitress relied “oh I guess I’ll do it.” The food was not good at all. I was very disappointed. After we ate, I asked for the check. 10 minutes goes by and she just keeps walking by us. We go inside to ask for the check and I asked for the manager. I let the manager know what happened to my fiancé. The manager replies with that she told him they were sorry and it happened because my daughter was standing in the way?! Excuse me could have been used to make my daughter aware of the situation, as well as my fiancé! The manager offered a free dessert but after the bad experience with the food, we passed! We will not be back. I think everyone there could benefit from...
