Sumthin Kool Snowballs — Restaurant in Maryland

I usually don’t leave reviews, but this experience was too upsetting not to share.

When I pulled up to the restaurant, I didn’t park correctly — I was running late and didn’t mean to park outside the lines. As I walked toward the door, a female staff member said something, but it wasn’t clear or loud enough for me to know she was talking to me. I thought she might’ve been speaking to a coworker who was also walking toward the door with inventory, since they were all wearing similar shirts.

Then I heard a man yelling from near the dumpster area. Again, I assumed it was just staff talking amongst each other — I had no idea any of it was directed at me. Even after I got inside to pick up my order, I could still hear the yelling from outside. It was uncomfortable, but I brushed it off thinking it wasn’t my business.

But when I walked back out with my food, that same man — who I later found out is one of the owners — was still yelling, this time clearly at me, and began cursing me out over the way I had parked. I was completely caught off guard and honestly embarrassed. I explained I hadn’t heard what was said earlier or realized anyone was addressing me — otherwise I would’ve gladly moved my car.

Instead of handling it respectfully, this man chose to be loud, aggressive, and unprofessional — all over a parking mistake that could’ve been solved with a calm, direct conversation. I felt disrespected, humiliated, and genuinely hurt by how I was spoken to.

As a paying customer, I didn’t expect to be cursed at and treated so poorly. I will never return here again, and I hope no one else has to be subjected to that kind of hostility. A simple misunderstanding should never be met with that kind of behavior — especially not from an owner and...

I used to frequent this place, and from what I remember the food was good but I love their shaved ice. I purchased 6 snowballs from here today. Two of which were Banana and Vanilla. I’ve never had nor ordered a banana or vanilla snowball, these were for my family. When they were given to me, I was confused about which one was vanilla and which was banana. The vanilla was brown. The yellow was banana. I didn’t expect the vanilla to be brown and was put off by it, hoping my order wasn’t mixed up with someone else’s. I simply asked for clarification about which was which and I was met with so much attitude. The young woman first said she just made so many that she didn’t recall, which compelled me more to get clarity about which was which. She seemed to have developed an attitude because I was confused about which was which. As she explained which was which, her face was broken down and her tone was rude. It was so professional. The energy was so discomforting that I wanted a refund. I decided to just take the order to my children, who really wanted snowballs, and simply never return to this establishment. It is not a good feeling to spend your money anywhere and be made to feel like you’re not welcomed, you’re being a nuisance or you’ll be met with some unnecessary altercation simply for having a moment of confusion. I patron black owned businesses with a strong emphasis on support our own, but I don’t support unprofessionalism and ignorance....

I’ll give this place a two because the Snowball has potential to be great they have the best shaved ice other than original Hawaiian and one sweet moment however they overloaded it and was super watery or syrupy For both with very little marshmallow. The funnel cake is not that great and the customer service is horrible I first talk to the owner who apologized and seem to be a very decent person stated he had been in business for 19 years however when the window was slammed on my hand he made an excuse for why I was slammed on my hand and never once apologized then the young guy shoved the snowball at me which is spelt everywhere and customers turned around because they saw how rude he was so they lost three customers which is potential for way more business just because of how the other saw him react and I’m very upset and very disappointed.However I’ve been trying to support black businesses and the only reason why I didn’t ask for a full refund is because it’s burning up hot and I’m pregnant and I have to be dropped off so that my fiancé can go to work so I said I’m here let me just get it whatever it’s ice looks clean and I’m supporting black businesses even if it is rude black business and they don’t appreciate my money of value me as a customer I still need this ice it’s 100° and I’m pregnant that’s the only reason why I kept my order and didn’t...
