when I came in, the chef was still cleaning a whole fish. I was already impressed right from the start! the environment is simple and elegant, and the server was very attentive. I went with the lunch special. the miso soup is super rich, but not excessively salty. perfect tofu-to-scallion ratio. shrimp gyoza was perfect, and the sauce served with it is less savory and more tangy than other sushi restaurants. my main course consisted of white tuna, regular tuna, and salmon cucumber rolls. a single plate and a simple presentation, super fresh fish, and the flavor of the rice was incredibly balanced. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a new sushi spot this much! for this level of quality and service, I would be willing to pay twice as much as I did. If you want a no gimmicks, classic, calm sushi experience I highly recommend Sushi Ya!

I don't know why they serve peanuts, though. it's fine, but it's kind of out of left field for...

A True Gem of Japanese Cuisine! This small Japanese restaurant is an absolute discovery! Usually, when you're super hungry, any food tastes good, but this was different: every dish was truly delicious, and that's no exaggeration. The atmosphere in the place is incredibly cozy and relaxing, and the background music was wonderfully pleasant – it perfectly complemented the evening. What particularly surprised me was the variety of soups. In many Japanese restaurants, the selection is limited, but here I found so many interesting options, and all of them turned out to be incredibly tasty! The sashimi deserves a special mention: it was incredibly tender, melting in your mouth, with the perfect amount of rice that only enhanced the fish's flavor rather than overpowering it. I highly recommend it to all connoisseurs of authentic Japanese cuisine! You definitely...

This place is hands down the best sushi in the area. I recently moved not far from here and was looking for a good sushi spot. I came across this place by chance after a very long day, and oh man, am I glad I did. The sushi is excellent. I loved every single bite of every single thing I ordered. I had a combination of sashimi, nigiri, and rolls. I tried salmon, yellowtail, squid, and mackerel among others. Everything tasted amazing. They even included fresh wasabi on my plate! I was also impressed by the number of people who came in who were so obviously regular customers, many of whom knew the staff by name (and the staff knew them by name as well). From where I sat at the bar, I overheard compliment after compliment to the chefs making the sushi, the management team, and everyone else. This is obviously a very special place. I will...

Let me make one important distinction about Sushi Ya and many other Sushi restaurants that have popped up. Sushi Ya has legit Sushi Chefs, they know what they are doing. I know this because of the rice! It is soft, moist, sticky and flavorful. Many other restaurants serve hard, smallish rice that hasn't fully cooked and absorbed the seasonings. The fish is fresh, none of it tasted fishy or smelled. The Yamato was large and generous, the texture was perfect. The only downside about this place is that it is starting to show it's age and is in need of renovation, so it might not be a great place to take a date. The food is fantastic though. Parking is not a problem, staff is friendly. Average to expensive in price, but worth it.
