After bowling we decided to check this place out. It was busy but there wasn't a wait when we called ahead. I don't know why some reviewers had an issue with the picnic tables inside-it's a crab shack!! Everyone knows you need space when you eating whole crabs. They had enough tables as well , but there's no frills at a crab shack. I thought the place was nice, staff was very nice. My only issue was that because you do not have a dedicated server that sometimes you had to try and catch someone walking past if you needed anything. My son had cream of crab which looked very good ( he said it was good) and my daughter had crab boil bag, she said the meat from the crab legs were too salty though So me and the husband ordered 1 doz X-larges @$115 . Now I know according to the board the prices are according to length, but we eat alot of crabs...xlarges and jumbos in particular. These did not look like xlarge crabs. The bodies were small and the meat was difficult to get out. You don't have to fight xlarge and jumbo crabs . The were very flavorful, so however you are steaming them, please continue. Last thing; we are used to making our own crab sauce with the table, however the young man brought us out the condiment packages which was barely enough to make anything with, but we didn't fuss. These small things can be improved on, but this place has the potential to be great. I don't know what people were saying about being over priced. The prices to us were average for quality seafood.

This place is not like the previous restaurant Big Fish. My family and I took our aunt here for her birthday. The menu for okay except the section with the Crab Boil. The way this restaurant charges for their crab boil is a la carte. Ridiculous right. You're playing separate marked up prices per item and extra 3$-5$ for sausage, eggs, rice or corn. My dad ordered the whitting dinner. The seasoning was salt and pepper and you could tell they cooked it in old grease. My brother had two orders of shrimp. One fried and one broiled, the fried shrimp was okay but the steam shrimp had an ammonia like taste. He took the broiled basket back and told the manager. The manager would not give him a refund and stated "he never had any complains before", there was nothing wrong with the shrimp and he was not going to give him a refund. My mother, aunt and daughter crab boils were okay. I got the Cajun mild boil, my daughter got the lemon pepper mild and my mother and aunt got the Cajun medium bags. I did not have any complaints until about an hour later... my stomach began to turn. We all ended up having loose bowels later on that evening. I will not be returning to this restaurant and I see why they have so many complaints. From the poor customer service to complaints about the food. We spent over 200$ in this place and it was not worth it. This place will be on my never again list. The photos are of the broiled ammonia shrimp and the manager.

I am extremely disappointed and honestly very upset about our experience at The Crab Shack in Crofton. Last night around 9 PM we ordered carry out and spent $53 on two catfish sandwiches and 12 buffalo wings. We did not open our food until we got home to Annapolis and what we found was completely unacceptable. The wings were half cooked with red raw meat still inside. That is a serious health concern. The catfish sandwiches were disgusting. The fish tasted old and spoiled. The coleslaw was just dry shredded cabbage and carrots with absolutely no dressing or seasoning. It felt like we were served old food that had been sitting out for hours. We called the manager and she told us to bring the food back and she would replace it. But who keeps raw chicken and bad fish just to drive back? That food went straight into the trash where it belonged. It was unsafe to eat and should have never been served in the first place. We were looking forward to a good meal after a long day and instead we were left angry, frustrated, and disgusted. I would never recommend this place to anyone, especially in the evening hours. With that said, the manager named Heather did call me back the today. She was kind, apologetic, and very professional. She refunded our money with a gift card and apologized for asking us to bring the food back. I appreciated her response and follow-up. I hope our next experience with their food is a much better one.

I had my first dining experience here and will NEVER go back again. When I came in I was greeted by a young lady who asked me if I had ever been there before. I said no and she told me to grab menus, seat ourselves and order at the bar. We ordered Cajun boil bags, my husband ordered a fish basket and I ordered half a dozen jumbo crabs. We saw another patron that had some really nice jumbo crabs. When I got my order the crabs I received were medium to large at best. I told the waitress these were not jumbo and would like them replaced. One manager came back with the crabs after Thursday kept carrying them around the restaurant. She told me she could get their crab stick and they measure they point to point and they are jumbo. I told her I have eaten crabs all my life and never seen crabs that were jumbo come back this small. She told me these were Texas and Louisiana and not MD crabs so they would be smaller. WRONG! The LA crabs are typically bigger than MD jumbo crabs. Another manager came out and they told me they will not refund my money. I paid $75 for 6 medium/large crabs!!! She said they have signs all over but yet where is there a chance to read any disclaimer? You should be told that when placing an order. Had I known that I would have never ordered them at all or asked to see them. The manager told me she could not make me anymore jumbo because that was the last of the jumbo. They gave me the left over scraps! They should have put those in with large to provide better service to patrons. Knowing I'm ordering food I'm not satisfied with and they just took my money. I did not receive what I ordered or to the quality. As a first time diner then should have informed me for future reference but instead lost a customer forever. If a customer cannot be refunded and you refuse to make sure they are satisfied with their meal then that should be stated verbally and a waiver written. I ended up leaving with no crabs but they have $75 for 6 crabs on top of everything else we ordered. Will NEVER...

I recently tried the Cajun boil bag at this restaurant and I have to say, I was extremely disappointed. The flavors were so bland, I could barely taste any seasoning at all. What surprised me even more was the fact that the corn on the cob was whole, making it difficult to eat and enjoy with the rest of the ingredients in the bag. Additionally, the sausage was only served as a link, rather than being cut up and mixed in with the rest of the dish.

To make matters worse, there was not enough seasoning or butter provided in the bag to give the potatoes any flavor. I ended up having to pay an extra $5 for more butter, and even that wasn't enough to salvage the dish. Overall, I was very disappointed with the Cajun boil bag and would not recommend it to anyone looking for a flavorful and satisfying meal. In addition to the disappointing Cajun boil bag, I also tried the Mexican corn at this restaurant and found it to be a little off. I'm not sure what they do differently, but the flavors just didn't work for me. However, I will say that the crabs were good and the crab pretzel was also tasty.

On a positive note, I have to commend the servers at this restaurant for being attentive and friendly throughout the meal. Despite the disappointing flavors of the Cajun boil bag and the strange taste of the Mexican corn, the servers were always quick to check in on us and make sure we had everything we needed. Their hospitality definitely added to the overall dining experience, even if the food fell short of...

My wife and I went to the Crofton Crab Shack location this evening to order two Lobster rolls. As I ordered our sandwiches, I asked my wife if she wanted to share some fries. When she said yes, I informed the cashier that I wanted to add an hour of fries. The cashier then asked me what size I wanted, which I stated “medium”. We then sat down and waited for our food to be brought to our table. A server then brought a large cup of French fries to us…moments later, the same person (cashier) who initially took our order brought our Lobster roll sandwiches and to our surprise, it included fries as well. When I asked the server why she didn’t inform us that fries were already included with the Lobster rolls, she stated that she didn’t know. I then asked to speak to the manager. The manager (Ashley) came to our table to hear my complaint, at which time she stated that nothing could be done because the menu listed fries with the sandwich. It didn’t matter that we ordered our Lobster sandwiches without looking at the menu, and would not give us a refund of $9:00 for the extra fries. Ashley was very nonchalant and showed a disinterest in making things right with us as the customer. Additionally, Ashley appeared to be clueless to the fact that her cashier/servers need to enhance their customer service skills by implementing improved training methods. On top of all that, our Lobster rolls lacked flavor and wasn’t even worth the trip! Needless to say, we will never patronize that...
